We haven't met her yet since she lives soooo far away, but I've had many long phone conversations with the breeder, and seen pictures of the pup! I'm hoping to get some recent pictures soon and I'll post them for you guys to see.
Depending on her pedigree she may a cousin of my dogs and all of the Sherwood bred dogs on the Forums. Is Suddanly Bets On A Lady's Man her sire or grandsire? He is a half brother to my boy Nick.
Congratulations to both of you. We just got our pup three weeks ago. We are going through all of the expected mayhem, although it doesn't seem that bad. Perhaps he will be a problem when he is a teenager. Remember lots of walks and play time.
Hello & welcome from a fellow Canadian. I had a great conversation with Diana about 6-7 months ago. I'm sure that you will be getting a great pup. Congrats. Nice to have you here.
Congratulations on your puppy! Good job getting him out of that situation, 5 weeks is too young to leave the mother but I am glad you got him away from that bad breeder.
If I were you I would report that breeder…sounds like the animals she still has are in an abusive situation.
how long have you had him?
Biting can take months to curb! Its really a matter of consistency and patience, i know it is hard!! I would highly recommend finding a good behaviourist in your area to teach you the neccessary tools to get him to be a confident great dog
@lvoss:
I PM'd you with contact information for Asil's Walkabout by ElDorado's breeder. I really urge you to contact her about the history of the dog.
It is good that you are doing the research now so you can get a puppy that you will enjoy for a long time to come from a breeder who will be there to support you through all the ups and downs of basenji ownership. There are many resources availalbe through this forum to help you find a responsibly bred puppy.
I e mailed her after I got your IM. Hope to hear back from her in the next day or so.
