Youtube…cell phone

Basenji Talk
  • Has anyone seen the "basenji cell phone reaction" clip on youtube? It is hilarious! I had the computer hooked up to the tv tonight and was playing some videos to encourage Piggy's lovely singing voice and I could not stop laughing at her reaction.

There are lots of good basenji youtube videos, some of them are so talented, like the one that sings with the piano. I love it.

Does anyone have any videos on there? We don't, but "basenji in the sand dunes" is piggy's sister, Tapanga.

    Enjoy!

  • fun stuff, thanks for sharing.

  • I've often played basenji noises for Booger & Lola with little response. They give me funny looks & then ignore it.
But this one warranted a half hearted baroo from Lola towards the end. She must approve.

  • Tapanga in the dunes is my "Gossy in the Blanket" :D

  • I always look at Basenji videos on you tube when I am bored. There are tons of them :) I have a couple of Dallas up from when he was a little puppy.

I have tried playing noisey clips for Dallas to get him to sing but it never works. He will stare at the monitor & tilt his head to the side but never becomes vocal himself. Although, maybe I will try the one with the 5 basenjis tonight! Haha

The one that got Brando to start singing was "Zeke the basenji"…funny because the basenji my brother had when I was in high school was named Zeke. Anyway, once Brando sang to that video (he was silent for nearly 8 months), he will now sing for his dinner every night. It was like the flood gates opened. :D:D:D:D

  • I am definitely going to look up that one tonight & play it for Dallas. I would love to get him singing :)

  • Zeke is great! No wonder he is so hoarse!!!
No response from pig tonight on that one, but she is sleepy from the park today.

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.

Thanks Everyone!!! It took me about a month to teach him that (he was about a year and a half old). I started off by sititng on the floor with him, rolling him over gently, rubbing his belly and softly saying "Show me your belly". Then I would roll him over, say it then rub. Little by littly he started to get it. Believe me though, he is still a basenji and does not do it every time. :D I would say he does is once out of maybe 3 times.
