  • Just wanted to say "Hi" to everyone here. I see some people I know, some I haven't met. I'm Kim and I have 3 basenjis, one malinois and one husband. Some people may be familiar with my brindlewonderkid, Digital (highlights include Dual Ch, MX, MXJ, TDIA, etc). Others may also know about my Tri-ing basenji, Jet (Ch, AX, AXJ, TDIA, etc). A few may know about Zpuppy, Zest (only 12 months, but showing great potential to follow in the pawprints of the other basenjis). I enjoy seeing how much I can do with my basenjis. I even took the boyz out to attempt sheep herding. (PreZ days and I left the malinois, a dog from the herding group, at home. go figure.)

Cool, welcome to the forum…. hope to see pics soon... and you have done wonders with your B kids....

  • Welcome to the forum!!! Sounds like your boys are doing great, can't wait to see pictures

  • Hey Kim!! How fun to see you here! I didn't know you got a new puppy!!! Tell us about her!

  • Welcome, enjoy the forums and the good folk here. We just love pictures!:D

  • Yes… yes... tell up about the new pup!!!! Details, we want details and pictures!!!

  • Welcome to the forum. It's great to have yet another member with lots of experience to draw on! I'm sure you've got great stories and photos to share. Looking forward to both…

  • Okay, new puppy. I got her the end of March. She's a Makalika-Jerlin breeding, r/w little girl. (Sire is Fanconi clear -yea!) It was sort of unplanned. I sent a Valentine's day card to Linda and mentioned puppies thinking about the following year. Linda mentioned this breeding and told me I could pick out which bitch pup I wanted. So I load up everyone and pick out the best agility prospect. Cute as the dickens and has LOTS of attitude. She's exactly what I've been looking for for the past six years or so and I am so thrilled with her. LOVES the agility game and seems quite pleased with herself in the conformation ring. I've actually never had a basenji so food driven. So that's my puppy.

I'll attempt to include a pic

  • Wow Kim, she's gorgeous! With you as her partner she is bound to get as much alphabet behind her name as Digital. Welcome to the Forum.

  • She is adorable! Best of luck!

  • wow, i luv her!

  • Hi Kim!

Great to see you and your 3 badsenji's on here :)

  • She is too cute… who are her sire and dam?..... I think I can guess... but would rather you tell me... :-)

  • welcome! your little girl is so cute! i would love to see if my kids were any good at agility. one day, i suppose. can't wait to see more pics!

  • Welcome to the forum and great pictures.

  • Thanks guys! I have to admit the agility people around her are quite smitten with her. She's had LOTS of socialization. I don't know about all areas of the country, but the agility people here are great with playing pass the puppy. I think it helps that most had never seen a basenji pup. That and Zpuppy's tendancy to walk into a room saying "I am the best thing going, so let's get this party started."

    To answer Pat's question:
    Jerlin-SS General Powell X Makalika Drop-Dead Redhead

  • Wow! She IS gorgeous. She has the same sire as the pup I am set to pick up in about a week!! Can hardly wait!! :)

  • Kebasmom-
who's the dam? I hope you have as much fun as I have with my pup.

  • My pup's dam is a trindle - Djakomba's Trinket. I am so excited. It seems like I've waited an eternity…..

she's precious! I don't know that it gets any easier denying a basenji. Mine is 12 yo and I still can't ignore his sweet brown eyes.

Thank you for the welcome. Also, for the advice. He seems to be okay around the horses for the moment. One of the mares gave him a bit of a stink eye and he moved out of the area quite quickly all on his own. He loved the trimmings of the hooves left by the farrier :) I did post a few photos that our daughter took on the Show Off section.

Hi cmd - My name is Jill and I am the recipient of a rescued male puppy, Duke, who I have since learned (after 4 months) is a Basenji, now 8 mos. old. I love this forum, because I have learned alot about this breed. I now realize that Basenjis are a challenge, but I believe the more I know, the easier he will be for me and my family. There is no turning back now because we are in love with Duke . Select "Bonnie Bell" a 10 month old female (from Emerant's the Instigator and Select in my Pocket) and "Ramsey" Geheep's Klassic Jim a 11 year old male (Klassic Eye of the Tiger and Baruh's Jessica Hahnd) Wish I knew where Duke's blood lines run. You must be proud. I am new at this and I love to read the stories and learn that I am not crazy! I am glad you're a veteran as are many forum friends here. I love the stories about the Basenji's extraordinary body of energy and their purposes. Can you guess why my handle is Crazy Duke? I can tell you about some unbelievable stories about Duke since bringing him home already. (That's why I'm glad to find this forum - Duke's not crazy, he's a Basenji.) She was an awesome dog and was very very loyal. I am so sorry for your loss. But the only comfort we have is knowing she had a great life being in your life. I've lost many doggies over the rainbow to squirrel heaven. I hope you'll share some more stories and help us new-B's here on the Basenji Forum.
