Best pet hair vacuum?

Off Topic
  • Did you use that special attachment to pick up the hair or the regular one? I have the purple dyson with the attachment (Turbo especially for pet hair) but I can't seem to figure out how it works  :embarrassed:

I'll try and explain it, Okay unclip the hose and handle from the vac, extend the arm and remove from hose, push up air vent on end of handle, attach hose to this end (should make it so that you have an extension and the hose is attached by the handle, then take the mini turbo to the end of the extension, the suction from the vac will spin the turbines.

Okay I hope that helped, if i confused you I could take pics and show you, lol, I really don't mind. It took me awhile to figure it out also.

Oh and for quick jobs you can take the handle out of the hose completely and then attach the turbine to the hose

  • I am delighted to see this topic! I have terrazo floors with area rugs, and I am afraid that the Dyson may be too powerful, not to mention heavy (the reason I don't vacuum more often is my old heavy Kirby). The Kirby lifts the edges of my rugs, making it very awkward, holding the edge with one foot while I try and move the vacuum. Does anyone recommend any other brands, maybe a lighter weight one? I am looking at the Dyson cannister, or 'slim' but they are both a ton of money!

    Thanks,
    Anne in Tampa

  • WBL-thanks for the info!! I will try it out tonight…and let you know if I'll need pics LOL :D :D

They are a ton of money, but well worth it…. IMO

  • I looked on Consumer Reports and Dyson wasn't listed very high. My friend has one and sweats by it. I picked the 1st one on the list that had a bagless vacuum. I love it. It is a Sears Progressive Bagless with the intelli clean system. It tells you when the particles in the carpet are down to a certain level to be considered clean. However, it takes me about an hour longer to vaccum because I refuse to move from one spot until that spot is officially "clean".

The Australian laws stipulate that the animal has to be able to stand and turnaround without touching the container. They will not allow two to travel together, and you have to get a certificate signed by a vet that they are fit to make the journey within a day. There are a number of things to consider about flying, and when I shipped to USA they were put in the cargo and not let out for 16 hours during the flight - just as well. When I shipped to Hawaii, no rabies there, he held onto everything, and as soon as he was out of his crate at the other end, he had a gigantic piddle. And smiled.

I had not heard about the problem with Pet Airways. I hope the issue with it is actually a contract problem and not a financial one! The woman in the story who did not get her money back from Pet Airways should be getting her money back from her credit card company and then the credit card company deals with the company. Jennifer

Visits are a great idea. In the past year I have been staying at my familys farm wich has plenty of room but I added another dog and my Mother got another dog for a total of 4. Not bad since two are tiny ones, lol. But it took a bit to learn to b a good pack. I am not sure how cats mix with the dogs but I'm sure visits won't hurt any. Good Luck :)

I can't tell you how many pills I've wasted trying to get Senji to take his pills. Even when I hide them in a ball of ground up meat and mix it in with his food, he SMELLS the pill in there and eats everything around it, but leaves the balls with the pills in them. Sometimes I make a few "decoy" balls to try to fool him, but he knows the difference.
