Happy Thanksgiving USA!

Off Topic

  • I just <3 Thanksgiving. For me it is spending all day with a carefully synchronized dance through baking a Turkey, casseroles, some sweet potatoes, rolls, and pulling together a few other items until my buffet cannot possibly hold anything else. I love it! Mostly I think I absolutely treasure not having to think about what to cook for dinner... for almost a week after!

The popular family tradition of going around the table and coming up with one or two things to be grateful for taught me to carry that through the rest of the year. And I often remind myself how grateful I am for the little things that go unnoticed. Like squeezing under the yellow light (whew!) before it turns red. Getting a good parking space. My son. And, my Basenji. Whose walk (today) is scheduled somewhere between flipping the bird over and pulling the bird out of the oven.

If you are one of our many members outside of the U.S., please join us for a moment and think of something you are grateful for. And for those of you in the U.S.... pace yourself... (snicker) ...leave some leftovers. ;) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  • I’m thankful that, despite Covid, I was able to spend a month with my folks, help them make their home more comfortable and easier to live in, and help dad get a handle on his meds. That brought much peace of mind. Thankful to Karen for referring me to Stella, and to Stella for Logan. I’m thankful to Logan for helping to heal my heart. And, I’m thankful to Jengo for being my Jenga Jeng. Happy thanksgiving. 🍁 🦃

  • Happy Thanksgiving everyone from Simba and myself.

  • I was able to spend the special day with my local family since I live in their home. It was a really special day...:Prince's first Thanksgiving. Dave even got him a special Turkey topper for dinner. So thankful for family and friends. My little guy is so special to me, I am thankful every day for him and I tell him so. Then I get that look from him.."I love you too, Momma".

@BART: I've been living on my own for over 20 years but I still go to my parents for Thanksgiving. I'm thankful that they are both still alive and live only about 3 miles down road. Mom still makes her stuffing based on a recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook circa 1954. The pages are very yellow and some of them fall out if you aren't careful opening the book but I've never had stuffing quite as good. :) Will be going there shortly. :D My mom has a Betty Crocker cookbook from ages ago! She just mentioned to me that she's got tons of cookbook but that's the only one that she ever uses! We JUST prepared the turkey and stuffing recipes from that book! Love it! Edited to add: I just went down to check the date on the cookbook - 1971! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! I am grateful for many things, including our two wonderful basenjis, and this forum. We would never have made it through the process of adopting our two rescues in just over a year without the support of Sharron Hurlbut (sp?) and other experienced folks on this board. Today, Fiji and Bongo are happy, well adjusted dogs and they add to our lives tremendously. Thanks to all of you for your unending support of the breed and one another. Hope you've all had a wonderful day.

I finally saw Base and Indi!!! Emm's so jealous. =) I was walking with Kairoe on the last stretch of it and then a guy yelled out from the parking lot, "Is that Kairoe?" I'm like.. "Yeah?" He goes back in the car and then two basenjis came out! I couldn't believe it! Base is huge! And they growled at each other. Indi was cute and calm.

Thank you, we are back from hospital. All tests came back negative and they say it could be cervical vertigo… Muscle relaxers and rest is prescribed with a check back if all is not well in ten days. We are glad he is home, Bella is doing her happy dance!!!
