Tucker in the USA!

Off Topic

  • The past weekend we took Tucker (Terrarust's Ace of Spades) down to Therese and Kevin so he can get his American Championship. We went with him and it was so much fun to see all of the other B's and to sit down and visit with Therese and Kevin. They are very knowledgeable about the breed and we found some wonderful techniques and tricks in our short time down there. I miss my boy so much right now but I know he is having a blast at Basenji Disneyland. His first show is next weekend and I believe is the Puyallup(?) show. Fingers crossed he does well for Therese!!

  • Tucker got his first point today!! I am excited. It has taken a month and he has been showing great but today was his day and he got his first point. Hopefully he will keep on with the trend and get some more tomorrow!

  • Congrats! Way to go, Tucker!

  • Will he be at the National in PA?

Will he be at the National in PA?

    Jennifer

He won't be doing that this year, he is staying mostly western states. We are hoping to go down to the national next year in Washington as it is closer to us.

  • So we finally have our Tucker back from Fopaws! He misses both Kevin and Therese. Unfortunately he only recieved one point the whole time he was down there. There is some fierce competition down there!! But we are happy to have him home, he was greatly missed. We may do the Montana circuit next year but will definately be heading down to the National in Washington! Hope to meet many of you there!

  • Look forward to meeting you in Washington, we will be there….

  • We met Tucker in June, it would be nice to meet his owners too.

  • Tucker gets to meet everyone on the forums and he doesn't even know how to type! I am excited to go to a show where there are going to be hundreds of B's. I think I saw 5 B's at one show once, and they were all Jennie Behles and well of course Tucker! I hope he was a well behaved dog when you saw him Ivoss!

  • Yes, he was well behaved.

@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@sanjibasenji Thanks for the article on Dog Genome Project - I found it very interesting. I was trying to figure out the interactive Genome wheel. It has the basenji closely related to the Azawakh and rat terrier but I’m still trying to figure out the first wheel which has the basenji listed w/ black/grey starting point. As far as the PBS Dog Tales video - it’s very interesting - it’s season 47 episode 2 - I highly recommend you watch the whole thing (54 minutes).

@Ashmoore92 It got put on the "back burner" ... I have some, but not enough for a book. I'll circle back around to it.

Thank you Wizard, I did 11 years in the Navy (9 years active, 2 years in the reserve) and DH is still in. We went to Arlington Cemetery this weekend and it is something I think everyone should do if they get the chance, there are so many buried there that have sacrificed for our country. I was honored to have served.
