In the words of Oscar Wilde - - It is better to be beautiful than to be good.

  • Libby (Lukuru Constellation Libra), our little girl keeper, is fascinated with her own reflection. This started fairly early in her life when she saw her image in the glass fireplace guard. But, as she fast approaches her 19 week birthday and teenager issues, we catch her often gazing at herself in mirrors.
I suppose that I am partly to blame because I have told all of our puppies since the moment of their births that they are beautiful. But, only Libby has taken it to this level.
Does anyone else have this experience?

  • Jo, If I were that beautiful, I too, would spend hours gazing in a mirror. :)

Libby is gorgeous (but I am biased) :D

  • Benkura … you crack me up. ROFL!

  • Querk used to gaze into the mirror, especially at hotels when he could stand on a bed and admire his full body view :) She IS a gorgeous girl!

  • I thought that was a trying thing. Yep, you guessed it, at my house it's Jet that likes to admire himself in a mirror. He always looks like he's thinking "D@^*, I'm a handsome!"

  • Houston

How funny you mentioned it..Pippin can spend long minutes at a time looking at himself in the oven door reflection..I always said he is enjoying "a thing of beauty when he sees one" :). Our mirrors are all off the ground so he has yet to see one of those..hehe.

  • First, not sure if you saw my post that I wanted her (then was told it was your pick!). Then my suggestion you could share her. OMG, she should be looking in mirrors!

However, only Cara is interested in the mirror but she fights, growls and interacts with her image. She used to do it almost daily, now maybe once a week when bored. Perhaps it is because I haven't told her she is "beautiful"… I actually tell her she is houndy with defective ears, lazy eye and slight overbite and that i adore every molecule of her.

Unfortunately she isn't good, she is a wild child so she is neither beautiful nor good...just utterly beloved.

  • She's gorgeous and has every right to be staring at herself in the mirror. Just remind her that a dose of humble pie is good for one's character. :)

  • Our girl Sidhe gets in my make up chair in front of my makeup mirror, which turns on & off with touch. She taps it for the light to come on and then admires herself. Often she will then jump on the dresser to help herself to the kleenx I keep there. And if feeling in a sharing mood she will drop kleenx down to Kell & Rogue. Who aren't quite up to getting on the dresser.

That should be the motto of every basenji;):D

    She's a beauty alright!

  • She's rightfully admiring her beautiful self. My Gbala is a mirror gazer but also looks behind to make sure it's not somebody else there!!!

    What's a good Basenji? - I don't know those!

  • suki likes to stand on the bed and look at herself in the mirror, too.

that would be Digital. if you're ever in colorado, i'll introduce you :)

  • My old Isis would gaze at herself in the hall mirror as she walked past, and I caught her more than once lying on the corner of the bed where she could see herself in 2 mirrors…looking back and forth, trying to decide on her 'best side'. She was a funny girl.

  • Our little princess at just barely 3 weeks old was already giving a good, solid B-A-R-O-O ! And letting the world know that she was ready for anything.:)

Ah well, I doubt he'll be making the trip to England anytime soon. At 14, he doesn't do much travelling. But even when I got him at 10 months, he's never done anything naughty. Well, there was that off course tunnel on an agility trial. I called his name, saw his ear twitch in my direction and ran straight into that tunnel with a big grin on his face. But he's never been distructive with non-dog items. Perhaps I'll hop over the pond one day and bring pics. :)

  • The tunnel used to be a favourite of my Basenjis. One even stopped in the middle and curled round and stayed!!

I'd love to see pictures. The old ones are rather special aren't they? My oldie, Jewel, never chews non-dog items either and I often call her 'Angel' but actually she's far from that - unless she's sleeping, like now!

Better that they get a check up at the vets as this doesn't seem to clear up. Might they have licked the bird poop as well as the feed? I know that birds can carry disease. I would haven't have thought suet would cause caused an ongoing problem. Let us know what the vet decides please.

http://www.springerusa.com/ I've found this site for the Springers. Everyone should have one for their Bs. Although really I can't talk. I own a bike - a really good full-suspension mountain bike with 20 odd gears etc. I've had it for 5 years and used it twice!!!:o:o I really can't get used to not riding a racer bike from when I was a teenager. LOL :D

well it's 50/50…there are good moments when they are playing outside with toys and everything in hunky dory, and then like you said Pat WHAM, Mia or Nike (he might only be 8lbs but geez can he lunge lol) will just loos it. I hope it's getting to know you kind of loose it and it will get better, like tomorrow lol...Actually they are doing better than I expected. Just the sleep thing I doubt will ever get better because Mia gets Tazmaniany around us when we try to move her in her sleep.
