  • Looks like they needed a solid nap after all that fun. :)

  • Looks like they got the bed just the way they like it and it is just right for them to have a nap on. My Kaiser likes to do the same thing, I have yet to find a basenji proof bed. The next thing I try is a sheepskin, fingers crossed.

  • That was a bed, that was! Thank dog for Tuffies!

  • Mine tear up sheepskin extra fast…
We use a lot of fleece blankets on the coach, in the car and on their bed, and that works - no destruction

  • Arwen can tear sheepskin. My freaking bedding shredding ROTTWEILER didn't teat sheepskin, but she can. I gave up. I put in towels and old blankets and just throw them out when they get too torn up. Of course, she isn't in the crate often other than to eat so her real bed is mine. But she's a pain for sure. There are some indestructible (so they claim) padded crate flooring but since she will pee if she gets mad, not something I want to bother with. Sigh. and we love them why?

  • First Basenji's

Tooooo Funny and toooo cute! made me chuckle very loud!

  • Yes i think the towels and old blankets and my dirty clothes are the solution! already i give them a fleece that i dont like it and its on one piece! cmom! ahaha but the true bed is mine, they make a crater on my bed! well i turn down the bed and use the other side, and let them out on the day and the bed is still on one piece. :-)

I think will buy some hard to teat piece of blanket to make a bag to full with all that pieces and give a second season of fun.. lol

  • No beds for my guys as they would just chew them and tear them up and mine are older. Once they took the large orthopedic bed outside when I had the door open because of the good weather and I am sure more than one did it!

Two previous males I had did that sort of thing to their stuffed toys. As soon as a new toy showed up, it would instantly be attacked and the stuffing torn out before the night was over.

Cool bed. Seems like the top bunk was made for a basenji. And nice to know they're Doctor Who fans too. :p

Mine are all snugglers and bed warmers, but Eddie is the hottest basenji I have ever known! He is the one that is in and out of the covers all night long, topper & Nicky usually settle under-cover and are set for the night. But if I get up to go to the bathroom, I am reminded of the Simon & Garfunkel song '"Cecilia…"I got up to wash my face, when I come back to bed someone's taken my place". Anne in Tampa

Mom calls him my little shadow as he is always at my heels. If I get up to go to the bathroom, he follows me to the door and then stops. When I go to another room, even if he is sleeping in his bed or mine, he is up like a flash and right there! We have had a few bouts of separation anxiety but overall he is getting the idea that if I go out, I will come back. Mom did have a scare when I went out and forgot to close the garage door. She didn't know the door was up and opened the door to the garage to put some trash in the can. Beeji shot out of the door and headed out the garage door. Mom tried to call him back but he had taken off. She called me on my cell and was very upset. I was too but didn't let her know. I headed home and we sat on the front porch. It was about 5 minutes later and he came running up to the porch. I opened the front door and he came inside. I tried to keep it low key so he wouldn't get the idea that running would get lots of attention but it was hard not to want to grab him and never let go. I am extra careful about the garage door now. Whenever the door to the garage opens, Beeji dashes out tothe garage. I don't say much just wait a second and then he runs back in. The past couple of days, I have been using the backdoor from the garage to go out into the fenced backyard so I think he is getting it that the garage is not a way to "escape" But he still has to go check to see if the door is up or not.
