Winston Salem/Triad area, NC sitters?

Basenji Talk
  • I am on the lookout for a good basenji sitter in the Winston Salem, NC area, as I know the time will inevitably come when we will have to travel without our loveable basenji, Bimmy. My husband and I adopted Bimmy when he was 1 yr old, and he came to us with a good bit of crate anxiety and fear of being left. He has adjusted well to our home (not crated), and has made much progress. We hate the thought of having to board him at a place where he will be kept in a crate/kennel, as we do not want him to regress and have his anxiety come back. Thus, we would love for a basenji savy sitter to be able to take care of him while we are away. Are there any sitters in the area?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Not sure how far that is from Raleigh, but one of my whippet friends has a very nice boarding kennel in Raleigh and might know of some home care people. Her website is: http://tcanimalcare.com/

Ready to commit myself!!! Hahaha.. Alleycat- so incredibly adorable, I love the look on his face in the first one…might be a hint of mischief in there?! Lol The little black and white bundles get me everytime! I fell in love with breed and wanted a red and white...but after receiving Oakley...it's hard not to have the black and whites melt me. Take lots of pics, it goes by quicker than I remember thinking it would. Love his wide white stripe and his little white mitten foot in the back...he looks overall to be a "cool, laid back type"?! Perhaps it's because I was so used to the panic look as Oakley was panicked by many things back then!

I took my B to Gentle Care in Cary. They were really great with Cody, even with his quirks.

Yes, I already have a message in with my vet's office, but I figured I would have more of a chance to find a basenji-crazed sitter in the forums! @sharronhurlbut: Have you called your vet and asked for a pet referal re this service? That would be the first place I would ask.

I take Blaze to the second home pet resort just north of Leduc. Even though he's eaten several leashes, blankets, jackets, and caused general mayhem, they take amazing care of him, and always smile when we come in. They follow his medical needs and keep me updated. I get the medium kennel, which is indoor and outdoor, and they let Blaze play with the big dogs, which he prefers…
