Bait Pouch

I was advised against using them when I first started the reason being, ' they don't streamline your look.' Excuse me? I'm like 35 lbs overweight-honey, ain't nuthin gonna make me look THAT good. LOL.

Hahaha! That was a good one!
I am going to try with one 'discrete' pouch that I found with a clip, it does not look that obvious and it is very practical.

  • @nomrbddgs:

I use a very small treat pouch that attaches to me with a safety pin. It is leather and looks like a small coin purse. I was advised against using them when I first started the reason being, ' they don't streamline your look.' Excuse me? I'm like 35 lbs overweight-honey, ain't nuthin gonna make me look THAT good. LOL I wouldn't use a huge pouch, but a small coin purse size, for me, is acceptable.

Try to find one of those little blue Tiffany leather bags. Then NO ONE is going to think it doesn't streamline you. All they are going to think is "ahhh… she got something from Tiffany".

Where can you find those? I have never seen them before.

  • …or what about Gucci pouches? ;)

  • I have a treat bag that threads thru a belt, I got it at a show nearly 30 yrs ago, and its my favorite.

  • Naaaaaaaah you are all wrong…

The one that I got comes like that, it threads through the belt and also has a clip so I can use both ways, that is why I like it so much.

I found a few on eBay last night, but alas, they come with jewelry, some of it expensive. But I did do a search on "suede pouch" on eBay, and saw some interesting ones, even in a variety of colours. If you do this search, you will get about 16 pages of items, so you'll need to make your way past all of the cell phone-type covers, etc.

    Hope this helps. :)

Thank you, I am checking them on Ebay but the ones I see…how do you clip them or adjust them to the skirt/trousers?

  • Very few of my show clothes have pockets so I normally use 2-3 rubber bands with my armband then tuck the bait under the armband.

  • I have added pockets to a lot of my skirts and jackets, its not hard to do if you know basic sewing.

  • Cherrybrook still carries the pouch I have, its the black leathette pouch, it has an opening on the back that you can thread a normal size belt through, or use a diaper pin to pin it to your clothes thru the loop.

  • Lots of cute pouches on etsy.com

all are handmade and you might even could ask for a certain color scheme if you want.

What about a small brooch or a safety pin?

  • Great small bags on etsy.com and cherrybrook.com.
This one looks good too: http://www.amazon.com/Travel-Money-Passport-Security-Waist/dp/B001MTUJRM

The best one will be one you feel you can carry treats and maybe keys, poop bag, cell phone, etc.

I've tried bait and no bait in the ring. I think bait works better for Logan, but not for me. He likes it and responds to it well, but as a new handler it's a pain in the butt. I know what I'm expected to do. Doing it once in the ring is hard. I get caught up in the minute and then forget what I'm supposed to do the next. I once stacked Logan backwards on the table. D'oh! Logan is SUPER food driven and he knows if I have cookies in my pocket. That's all he'll pay attention to. Jumping on the handler is frowned upon. Yes, I know training and time will cure it. Not there yet. Too many hobbies. Showing, breeding, MGBs, stereos, astronomy, motorcycles, family, friends, travel, house, etc. I need more time.

@Roux I have to live with the dogs 24/7. The judge sees them for maybe 3 minutes. My preference tops his/hers !

@cashh - Just curious, did you have your dog excused? Typically it is because of being lame in the ring or not letting the judge to exam the dog?
