He looks like a sweetheart…you can tell he's looking at someone he is fond of. Unfortunately I have a boy of my own that loves his mommy a little too much to share. The old ones melt my heart, but he looks like a young nine. Hope he finds a very loving mom who will adore him as much as he will adore her

I saw this following ad on Craig's List, and wrote to the owner to see if the dog was still available. Here was her response:
Thanks for asking about our basenji. Yes, we are still looking for a home for him, but as of now we are actually looking for him. He escaped off our porch and has been gone almost a week now. We have fliers up and neighborhood kids looking for him, but as of yet no one has spotted him.
If/when we find him, I will let you know.
Perhaps he's trying to find his way home, but apparently, he didn't want to be there either. :(If there is anyone in the Asheville NC area that reads this, and if you hear of a found boy in the Carolinas, this may be where he came from.

Reply to: comm-reqy3-2072702941@craigslist.orgMale 2 year old full-blooded red & white Basenji. Loves to sleep in bed with you and snuggle up on the couch with you. Doesn't shed (much) and is a really beautiful dog. Loves to ride in the car with you. Doesn't bark at all, although he does make sounds, especially when yawning or when left alone. He gets along great with other dogs and even seems to want to play with them. He knows the sit command and will obey - when he wants to. Walks great on a leash. Doesn't seem aggressive, although he does slightly growl if you try to take a toy away.
We were given this dog by his former owner who said he was house broken and crate trained. We quickly found out that he isn't completely house broke and he HATES being in a crate. In fact, he darn nearly tore up the wire crate we had him in, bending the wires and chewing up the plastic tray in the bottom (we were told he makes some noise when he first goes in it but then settles down). We tried to find the owner's post here on CL, but it's nowhere to be found, or we'd return him to them (if you're reading this and want him back, please feel free to email us about him).
We are in the process of moving into a new house and just won't take the chance that he'll tear something up there too.
We believe he needs someone who will take him everywhere they go or will let him have the run of the house (we can't do either). If you have the time and patience to spend with him and would be interested in giving him a really good home, please let us know, as we really DO care about this dog and don't want to just dump him someplace.
