Litter planned for Fall 09 (I hope)

Breeder Talk
  • @tanza:

And I also know someone that bred b/w to b/w and had 7 pups… one was red... he was nicknamed "from the woodshed"....

    Ha ha ha…too funny!!:D:D

  • I wish I had a r/w-ALTHOUGH it is a possibility. Misi's Dam was r/w and Wylie's Dam was r/w. Chances are just remote. Here is a few pics of her belly today at day 45. I still have about 2 1/2 weeks to go. She is only about 15 1/2 inches high. And she was about 18 lbs.

  • Look at her, so round and pretty..Round is good, means there is something cooking in there..

  • Something's cooking all right! Just hope they don't come out all burnt! lol

  • X-rays have been done. There are four definite, but I think one or two might be hiding. The way the puppies are placed, there seem to be quite a few open spots, but the two puppies are scrunched right together. Just a few more weeks and I'll know for sure!

  • Damisi looks beautiful and her coat is so glossy

  • Isn't Damisi due next week? Rio is due in 3 1/2 weeks and she was bred about 2 1/2 weeks after Damisi.

  • 1st due date for Damisi is Dec 2. So, a week and 2 days? Last due date is Dec 8.

  • I am glad to hear that all sounds good..can't wait for the baby news..and pictures too.

  • Just remember the 63 day estimate is from day ovulation so it can be earlier than 63 days if the first breeding happened after ovulation. Someone here in California just had a litter that they weren't expecting until maybe Wednesday by the breeding dates and the girl delivered Monday.

  • I hope she waits until at least Sunday or Monday to deliver if she's going to be early-gives them a better chance.

And the Bizarre keeps being Bizarre here at Dogo Habari. Remember earlier in the posting the Odd temperature. Well, it's still odd. Yesterday was 97.8 and today is 97.7. I guess she has a low base rate, maybe that is why she is so active all the time, to try to keep her temp up. I'm going to run another thyroid panel on her after she delivers. Maybe I'll run the more specialized test that I ran on Zina. Her values were all midrange, but you never know. I can see and feel the puppies moving now and am playing the waiting game. Now, she doesn't look big at all-definitely not for four puppies!

  • Has her temp been that low for the entire time? Or did it get back to normal and then drop again yesterday?

Many times a maiden bitch can fool you.. My Maggii didn't look big enough for 3, let only the six that she had

  • After I talked to the vet, it was up to 99.1, but it never went any higher than 99.5. The vet kept saying don't worry too much since she's active, eating, drinking and healthy. It hasn't dropped suddenly, just gradual until the 97.8, 97.9. My friend is on standby with her cell phone on all the time, so she's ready, the vet's ready (I talked to him on Monday when I did the x-ray-he said everything is on standby and if I need him he'll be ready as well) and I'm definitely ready. She's been moved into my bedroom, the whelping box is ready, I've got the shower curtain to protect my bed, baby blankets washed and ready, water bottles at the ready, hemostats are always sterile-just a waiting game now! Here are two pics from just about two minutes ago.

  • Fingers crossed for a smooth delivery and many healthy pups! I can hardly wait to see little B/W pups…my favorite color (shhh, don't tell Nicky & Eddie (tris)).

  • Yes, good luck! I hope you get lots of little b/w pups too!

  • Poor mamma she looks like she is ready, Good luck and the best.

  • Here are two pics of Damisi today. I know it's hard to see, but she's definitely hanging low. Puppies are moving all over now as well. By the way, temp was still 97.7 today.

  • poor Damisi, she is huge..soon, it will be time soon.

Seems like the DNA sample would be easier to get too. I guess the advantage of the sperm count is that you at least know if the sire is fertile or not. Good luck, can't wait to see pictures of the pups to be.

@Janneke: I enjoy your pics sooo much..! And I just LOVE this one.. this is the other girl right? http://astheniabasenji.rajce.idnes.cz/C_litter_2/#16.1.2010_85_.JPG Hmm… if I click on the link now.. I don't see the pic.. But I mean the one of I think Cibitoke on your/someones hand yawning.. :) Super cute :D I know what pic you mean :). Yes, it is Cibitoke i my sister's hand. Adults are great, Masai and Buju are still in "puppy area". Masai takes care of puppies so carefully and his behaviour often looks like HE gave birth to puppies, not Abanda :D. Today we are taking a stack pics, so then I'll upload that here.

Hope you have a good trip and he is all you are looking for AND passes all health-testing with flying colors! The spring puppies we are having in the next month [both litters no less!] were the ones we'd planned for Fall 2009. So I moved up my 2010 breedings to Fall 2009… now the girls all need to cooperate with my plans!

I had an "oops" litter 4 months ago between an 11 year old male and a 9 year old bitch. This was the bitch's third litter. She had no complications during pregnancy nor in delivery. If the scenario wasn't odd enough to begin with, the bitch has gone through alot of positive changes since delivering. She has slimmed down and is maintaining the best weight she has had in years. She has become active and playful again and her attitude is almost always happy. I'm thoroughly enjoying these changes in her and she is too. I don't know what was in those "puppy hormones" but I wish I could bottle it and sell it LOL! :D
