@Kananga: Sounds like a vet worth going to… :D Yes, when they show off a Basenji like that!!! Most people have never even heard of one….from my experience anyway...

Yes, I already have a message in with my vet's office, but I figured I would have more of a chance to find a basenji-crazed sitter in the forums! @sharronhurlbut: Have you called your vet and asked for a pet referal re this service? That would be the first place I would ask.

Thanks guys! Great to hear Kipawa is on his way to hospital work; I work at a Children's in cancer research and can't say enough about the amazing work therapy dogs do with the kids. I live in Pittsburgh, so I'm not sure that it would work well with Dexter but I might give it a try and see the response we get. He's just not what I'd call hospital ready yet!! :)

You may want to try crating him, in another room, before you start getting your supper/lunch/breakfast/snack ready. This way, he doesn't see you start to prepare. Is he normally bad in crate?

@Patty: When I have to take those of mine that are phased by vet visits I also make sure I include an interesting walk near the surgery. In that way they know that the visit is just a stop on the way to the walk. Oh what a great idea! I'll definitely use this. Thanks! :)

Love the picture of Achilles - that "one paw in the air" stance is really nice - my girl, Shaye, stands like that when she is considering whether she can get to a squirrel or some other thing before the leash runs out…....

Fran, I do know tags do wear out, but these look good to me. So, give them a try and lets compare info. I don't leave anything on my dogs when they are home, but put the tags on the collars/harness when we travel. Course, the b's are micro chipped. But with Wheat, looking so "unique" I don't want someone to think she is a wild dog.. I put on mine, REWARD on one side, my phone number on the second side and the word microchipped. They say put the dogs name on the tag, but as we switch collars/harness so much, doesn't seem important.

I am use to Mountain lions around here but usually they keep there distance and most people don't get to see them. I was very surprised because we were not that far from civilization and this one seemed very bold. I was very proud of my dog because usually he wants to chase everything. That is why I get off the beaten path a bit so he can run around on not be on a leash. Congo is my smart pooch!

Spencer started squatting after he was neutured and never went back. The only place he will lift a leg is when we walk past a stop sign. I figure that's his peemail site and he's leaving his regards to the other dogs. :) Glad to hear Kipawa has recovered!

We take Harley to Lansdowne Park, behind the baseball diamonds there's a fenced in Dog Park. How long have you had your Basenji?

You are all a riot hahaha. I knew my comment would be appreciated here. I'm just happy he gave in, because I wasn't sure I could keep him if he wouldn't let me have a fence ;)
