Where are you located? There are actually a lot of options. Sadly, as of late, not a lot of basenjis being posted to BRAT. There are other rescues, including a great rescue for basenjis in Florida and California. Also, if you can't find a suitable rescue, please consider young and adults from breeders that they have decided don't fit their breeding plan. They also need and make great pets.

@Dsims1976 really should contact BRAT - i didnt want togo through the puppy stage as well- and hes been such a pussy cat!!! i got my 2 year old basenji to accompany my other boy and hes been awesome!!!!

I am one of BRAT's Basenji mix coordinators. Most of the Basenji mixes I come across are probably not that Basenji, but some of them definitely are. Of course most are not from known parentage. @Buddys-Pal Keep in mind that there was no Fanconi test in '05. The linkage test came out in '07.... HOWEVER, there is no reason to ever again produce Fanconi in Basenjis... There is a direct DNA test and as Buddys-Pal pointed out, look for the test results yourself, they are public at www.offa.org

Best suggestion is for them to visit breeders in So. California. I am breeding this year, but already have more reservations then puppies expected. Best to go to www.basenji.org

What is she mixed with?

I live in San Francisco and I'm very interested in adopting a Basenji! Could you please contact me and give me more information …. i have had numerous basenjis .. starting out with my two RAMSES and NUBIA they had pups .. and although they were not planned pregnacies .. went to very good homes.. I still have some contact with one family .....that bought two of our pups ...
