I really want to give my basenji a try at lure coursing. How does someone get into this? How do you find a course? I know he would absolutely love this, because we practice running on a nearby hill above our house. I have fun squatting down next to him and holding his lease and then saying "go!" while letting him off. He runs like the wind for awhile in large circles and then comes back to me.

I think this is at Irvine dog park, which is off of Sand Canyon. We should go sometime. I have my masters class on Thursday nights, but it doesn't start ntil 7 pm. Do you know what time they meet?

Anyone know a good way to train to be afraid of cars?posted in Basenji Training
My 6 month old puppy sometimes runs full speed out of the house when the door blows open or I make a mistake coming in the door. He is not scared of cars and I am afraid he will get killed one of these days. I want to train him to be fearful of cars. HELP!

I get red bumps when I hold my basenjiposted in Basenji Health Issues & Questions
Does anyone get red bumps on their skin when they hold their basenji? I get them on the inner parts of my arms and when he sits on me or rubs against me, I get them on my legs. Maybe they have a certain oil in their fur that reacts with me?:(
