I don't remember where you got her from, but if from a responsible breeder you might want to ask if any of her line have had luxating patellas.

Thank you for the information. I will ask the breeder if they know and then do some research prior to taking her to the vet too.

Our first Basenji targeted one post of a redwood gazebo in our back yard. He just slowly worked on it until eventually it was no bigger in diameter than a primary size pencil. We replaced the post, fearing that the gazebo would fall down when he eventually got all the way through. He loved the new post too, so we finally had to put metal flashing around it. He never really chewed any of the other 7 posts holding the gazebo up!
2 of our current Basenjis have completely denuded a eucalyptus tree of bark as far up as they can reach - but they leave the other eucalyptus alone…
What goes on in their minds???

Hahahaha! This is hilarious! Dallas will let us lift him while he keeps a sock in his mouth but I haven't ever tried draggin like that. I may have to this weekend :p

Yeah, good point about being covered in vomit from the crate. I think it is quite remarkable that she has been trained to use a barf bag, though. I don't usually travel with someone that could do that (usually me and preschooler and a dog or three)…and I don't know that all dogs would be able to get the idea?!

I would rather have the vomit contained, and have to wipe off the dog....but I suppose that is just a personal choice 🙂

It IS pretty funny to watch 😃 , I will admit. It was easy to teach her – she IS a Basenji and she does prefer to keep things neat and tidy, unless it is something stuffed that can be gutted, of course!

Thanks everyone! I'm really glad I found this forum. I'm just full of Basenji knowledge from reading books and using the great info here. It's nice to have a place to come where everyone has such a great interest in Basenji's!!
