Sounds like she does have lots of issues, however considering her background (condition you got her in) not a surprise. And as she becomes comfortable you will most likely find other problems….. Not sure this is the best fit....

And we knew when fostering, it would be a possibility. There was expressed interest in an adopter not long after I brought her hope, so however it works out, I don't doubt she will find her home.

timmy will never be replaced. life goes on. you will always remember him and the wonderful two weeks you had with him. unfortunately, you learned a hard lesson.. basenjis are fast, escape artists. i almost lost my boy 2 days after i got him. he has horrible seperation anxiety. the first twenty minutes i left him alone, he escaped onto my balcony, ate threw the screen and jumped a whole floor down to the ground. SO many things could have gone wrong. i learned my lesson. i'm so lucky to have him here. what happened to timmy is not uncommon. basenjis are just two smart and too fast for their own good.. don't give up on your hisband. let him mourn. just reassure him it wasn't his fault and it could have happened to anyone. my prayers are with you and your family. you'll find the right dog at the right time. ❤

Timmy is very handsome and sounds as though he's going to fit in so well.

If he gets along with other breeds of dogs, perhaps taking him to doggy day care or a dog park would help. I would definitely ask Brenda about this first. Some Bs do not get along with small white fluffy dogs as they think they are prey!

Make sure your new puppy and the parents have been health tested especially for Fanconi Syndrome. One of the health issues with Basenjis is low thyroid and it can cause a dog to be aggressive. The parents should be tested for that and also eye problems with a CERF exam and the DNA test for Fanconi. Basenjis need to be socialized.
