I am based in the uk and have wanted a basenji for a very long time but through one thing and another it just hasnt happened. Now i was hoping there may be some people on here who could point me in the right direction. I went to crufts this year and met a few b's and they are such a amazing creatures.

i couldnt tell you as the rescue centre doesnt state i have emailed them asking a few questions to no reply which is slightly annoying…. so im just waiting..

no its not my dog she is in the local rescue and i have contacted them asking some questions as i am thinking about maybe adopting her if we fit her lol

she seems to have wrinkles on her forehead….

but then the tail isnt Basenji at all lol

think the other breed might be staffi or somethink heavy set as she is heavier set than a Basenji

hi thanks for the comment i see we have mixexd views i supose it depends on the dog as well ay? i just know if you could get them into to it that they could make amazing frisbee dog just be a bit more challenaging to keep the interest…. worth ago when i my B see what happens

I was wondering if anyone has successfully trained a Basenji to be a good Frisbee Dog as i believe they have all the aspects (providing you could keep their attention long enough lol) to be a great Frisbee Dog and maybe even put most the traditional breeds to shame if they were to be interested enough…

What do you folks think?????

Yes this breed can be aloof but so can any other breed but with the right up bringing they are just like and other dog my Kya will play with any dog and let anyone touch (when she wants to be touched tho) sometimes its straight away others it a few mins but she does in the end...

They are very smart and very active when you are but relax when you do.. They also have a high prey drive.... Also their dont have a doggy smell...

But cant wait to give her a B friend lol

She is a beauty. I have a special spot in my heart for the sled dogs. I have had 3 elkhounds. They are not very happy here in florida. My last elkie passed in August 08 at age 14. Have two basenji's and a catahoula lepoard mix we saved his life at 8 weeks from our kill shelter he was scheduled to be put down in a few days. He turned 1 yesterday. Now we have a cata what???
He's been a good boy My husband a 30+ year basenji owner has had fun having a dog that will play. He catches anything you can throw, ball, frisbee, bubbles Need to channel that ability into something constructive for him Enjoy your baby if they are like most sled dogs they don't really grow up till they are 2

hahaha she isnt a sled dog lol she is alot smaller than them lol she is about a inch maybe to smaller than a basenji at the weithers lol
