He most definitely has Basenji mix in him and he's a beautiful dog.
My Basenji mix as a puppy was a nightmare to train. He's the smartest dog we've ever had and is a pure joy to be with now.

Our Basenji mix, Bailey, squat peed until he was almost 2 yrs old. Now he lifts his leg to mark and squats or stretches mostly to pee.
Recently, we were at a dog park and he lifted his leg to mark a fence. He has no pee left, so with his leg lifted he pooed instead. It was hilarious!

I would definitely say that he has Basenji in him. We have a Basenji mix and without a doubt, he's the smartest, stubbornest and most loving dog we have ever had. He is three years old now, and when he was a puppy, my wife and I would joke about returning him for warranty work.
Your puppy is adorable and I'm sure you will love and enjoy him, as much as we do ours.

Other than his ears, he definitely has Basenji traits.
