MO puppymiller being shut down, basenjis need help

Basenji Rescue

  • I apologize but I was referring to Martha Reed who lives in Lamar MO and has USDA dealer/broker license number 43-B-0075. She has been USDA licensed since 1993. She kept her USDA license even after this dog auction. She used several kennel names but Reedgate was one of them. She breeds and can sell pups directly to the pet stores either her own or other breeders since she has a dealer/broker license. In February 2012, she had 214 adult dogs and 76 puppies. I hope she is not breeding Bs again!

The breeder who used the Van Go kennel name was Giger who has a USDA breeder license and who also lives in Lamar MO.

What pet store did you get Pip from? I rescued an older female pup at a dog auction who was returned to the MO broker/breeder from a Detroit area pet store in 2001.

  • I know, Jennifer, but I was just saying "Yikes" because our name is also Reed. No need to apologize!

Some things cannot be fixed. I urge you to get a qualified behaviorist (veterinary) to evaluate him. If he is truly unstable, rehoming him is not fair to him or the new home.

My dogs are secured in crates or the bedroom (Rotties were okay behind a gate, I'd never trust my basenjis with one) if the door is open. Every time, every single time, for my entire adult life. So yeah, dog bolts, the person failed to secure the dog. Unless some person enters if you don't know it, tree falls on house, burglar comes in, police raid your house by mistake etc… if YOU open a door, YOU are responsible, not the dog.

Folks, If you are unsure whether a particular thread content violates forum guidelines just email admin@basenjiforums.com and we will take it from there. To protect our forum members and ourselves we encourage rescue organizations and individuals to please send us a private message to admin@basenjiforums.com before posting ANY donation solicitations, fundraiser ideas or any Basenji Forums community related commercial activity involving money collection. Fundraising introduces unnecessary complexity and liability for Basenji Forums Staff, so we are very strict and sensitive about this subject regardless how long a particular member has been on the forum. Too many people get scammed into donating for various non existing causes and money gets stolen from honest good meaning folks on the internet all the time. When that happens operators of internet resources that host the donation solicitation inadvertently become part of the legal proceedings by people who are upset about their money being stolen for facilitating the theft. We have no desire or disposable funds to participate in that. We provide this resource free of charge to Basenji owners community. In return we ask our members to respect our rules and guidelines. Thank you, Regards, BF Staff

No matter what size bed you have, the dogs always seem to end up with 3/4 of it!
