Show Off Your Dog
  • (lots of pics.. sorry..)

We spent last week in the Belgian Ardennes. We hiked 6 days to 6 different B&B's. It was a lot of fun, but also quite hard from time to time.. We took 'some' pics and here are the ones with Tillo on it and a couple of the enviroment.

The evening before our first hike.. Tillo is already waiting for a car to pick him up ;)

    Cute donkey

The place where we started our walk, Beffe

    Dinner!

    Beautiful view..

Cows.. we saw lots of them!

At our first B&B.. a nice chair and a bone :)

Hike 1.. BF and Tillo looking at the cows

    Tillo hunting in the forrest..

    BF + Tillo + view :)

Tillo wonders if we really have to go through the water…..

    Now I'm all MUDDY!!

We have to go this way!

    BF

Tillo posing after his leash got stuck in the bushes..

We arrived at B&B #2, a castle farm

Hurry up with that pic, it's cold!

Hike 2.. Tillo demands a pic

    Fake goose :D

    Time for Tillo's breakfast

    ..Beef.. ;)

    Power nap!

Are you sure this is the right direction?

B&B 3. Tillo could keep an eye on the road from his window.

    Hike 3.. Tillo, Bag and I ;)

Lunch break.. it was sooo cold..

B&B 4. Dogs were allowed to walk loose in the house and in the fenced garden. The owners had three dogs as well.
Tillo found a nice chair to sleep on.

    Hike 4..

    Tillo found water

    birds… squirrels..

'Miss' Tillo isn't planning to get his butt dirty…..

We were in a very Catholic region with lots of churches, chappels and crosses.

    B&B 5, looking good!

Hike 5.. Tillo paying attention to the water under him

At times I was sooo happy Tillo was leashed… little hunter..

Time and space (and energy?!) for a B500

    With BF

We lost the road.. Tillo waiting for us to make a decision..

Lunch break.. Tillo found a 'sunny' spot

    With BF

Of course we brought his blanket..

    B&B 6

    Hike 6, La Roche

    l'Ourthe

    Crossing water…

    Tillo waiting for us..

Tillo got stung by something.. He felt really bad for a while..

We stayed an extra night at the B&B where dogs were allowed to walk loose. The owner made a nice pic of the three of us..

    And one of Tillo

And we visited Hotton on our last day in Belgium. There was a dog shop with a lot of chihuahua clothes, special princess beds etc.. including Paris Hilton look a like owners ;) Really fun to see :)

    And almost home!

  • Beautiful pics and beautiful landscape! I just love Europe :D.
After that 6 days Tillo must be a very tired. How long he was sleeping? :D.

  • I hope that steer was not his breakfast!!! Lovely photgraphs. It seems you all enjoyed your holiday!

  • Great pics!!! :D

Is it just me or are the chickens bigger than Tillo? :p

The photo of the three of you is wonderful!!! :D

  • What an amazing holiday. Beautiful photos, looks like you all had fun. Mine, even when younger, would have had to have a rest day every other day!

  • thank you for the virtual hike. i have a belgian malinois, that's the closest i've come to belgium. (well that and new belgium beers, but they are made here in colorado)

  • The "not getting his butt dirty" picture made me LOL. I enjoyed the whole adventure, too. Thanks for sharing.

  • great pictures - it looks like it was a fantastic holiday. The scenery looks very like here in Scotland - only not quite so wet.:)

  • Lovely pictures, Tillo had quite an adventure!

  • Thanks for all the kind comments :)

Yeah, I love Europe too :) Especially the fact that it's easy to bring your dog with you on vacation.
Tillo slept a lot. As soon as we arrived at a B&B he would sleep almost immediately untill the next morning. He would only wake up for his dinner.. and ours ;) :D

Well.. after the third day we really needed a day rest too.. Lucky for us the fourth hike was only 5 hours. We did make sure that we had a 20-30 min break for Tillo's breakfast (he ate after a 2 hour walk) and a good hour for our lunch, so Tillo could do a power nap.

Tillo is awful with wet grass etc.. So every morning when we stept out of the B&B he would do nr 1 and nr 2 and look at us like.. ok.. we can go back to bed now.. He really needed to be convinced to walk further ;) After 10 min he would be ok though.

We were first planning to go to Scotland.. Now we're thinking about going next year, maybe with a camper or something like that.. or we'll have to find some nice dog friendly accomodations. (if you know anything… ;)

  • Wonderful pictures, as always - the views are amazing. The picture of the three of you is a really nice one - both your guys are "hunks!" How great it is that you can take hiking trips like that with Tillo.

  • Great pics Janneke!!!!

We wanted to go to the Ardennen a few months ago, but we wanted to wait untill Ryan is a bit older!!!
After I saw your pics I really want to go next year!

It's beautiful there. But I wouldn't recommend these hikes with a baby… ;) I already had to carry Tillo at times when he couldn't walk on the path because of all the bushes.. And that's HEAVY ;)

  • Looks like you all had a great time, what beautiful scenery. The b+b that let Dogs roam loose sounds realy good.
I love the pic of Tillo sitting on your bf trainer , they are such wimps when it's wet (Basenjis i mean not men ;) )

    haha Thanks for the tip!
We wanted to rent a little cottage and explore from that point ;)
(And I sure don't want to carry 2 basenji's, a baby of maybe even a dogo!)

  • Great pics as always!

No problem Janneke - just let me know when your coming over and where you want to visit and i will help out - Scotland has lots of dog friendly cottages or B&Bs to stay at - probably easiest to contact me via Facebook. With all the travelling we do to shows i am the king of finding dog friendly accomodation.:D

    Scott.

That is my favourite picture too! :) I love how you guys pick up Tillo a lot. It looks like he totally loves it! Once again, Tillo takes some great pictures. Very nice family photo as well. I'd frame that one and have it on a desk or something.

Tillo LOVES to be carried around. When he has to go outside for his last pee before we go to bed, I always carry him out of the house. He just refuses to walk by himself  I also have to carry him upstairs.. I ask him "are we going to bed?" and he will run to the stairs and put his front legs as high as possible.. so cute ;)

  • Janneke, what a wonderful vacation.. the company (Lovely BF, BFF = Tillo), the scenery and all that happy peaceful, quiet solitude..nice!! Wonderful pictures, I love the one of Tillo sitting on a shoe and lots of the other ones as well.

Thank you so much for sharing, felt like I was home in Sweden, looking at all your pictures.

Dan, instinct kicked in and had you pick up Buddy instead of go for your camera. I think that was a wise move. Glad you both made it home safe and sound.

It's just very expensive here. That is what I have heard. We have it good here in Texas, still resonable and so far the economy has not bit us too hard.. but the scenery you have, somebody has to pay for it…lol. That is why we visit Sweden once a year, for scenery and ..oh, of course for family..
