  • We got a total of 20 inches- I think it's a record for around here! The dogs HATE it. Lexi just tries to tunnel through the door to get back inside where it's warm. We took the dogs to a field where they could run around. We wanted to see if they'd frolic in it like other dogs do. As soon as we let them off, Miles ran right back down our street. We thought he was trying to go home until he bolted into the first open garage (where the guy was shoveling his driveway). We caught him digging in their trash. Nice. Not doing that again!! (Please note that the entire area is shut down and there were no cars driving anywhere, in case you were wondering.) The snow is well above their heads now. We had to shovel a path for them to go to the bathroom. lol

  • Sorry we haven't been on in a while. I'm working on my second job as a stylist for Stella & Dot. Check it out and tell your friends!! www.stelladot.com/barrick

Meanwhile I'm going to post some pics from the last six months!! :)

So, living in northern VA, just outside DC, we had the worst winter ever. Here are some pics and videos from the massive storm we got!

Click on this one- it's a video!

Notice the dogs love to lay on the heating vent. :) Click on this one- it's a video!

Then spring came and we went hiking! :)

They always tell us that they love us. :) Click on this one- it's a video!

We took the kids to the Basenji Convention this weekend…

  • Lovely pictures and such happy Basenjis!

  • Houston

Great pictures…you've been up to lots.. I love the pictures of your and Lexi (I hope), the convention pictures too.

  • Try feeding them in their crates, we leave our crates open at meal time and while Duane is preparing they all go into their crates and stick their heads out and "talk" to him encouraging him to fix faster! Once food is in, doors are closed and locked so that everyone has a chance to eat in peace, only open when everyone is finished. so glad you resuced the boy.

I think I see some of the basenji ears, especially in the second picture. I just want to grab them and rub them good! :) It's most likely that there is at least a black lab there too. Also it may be not the first "mix". If it is a generation over there may be more then one mix in there. But either way, Lilly is adorable! :):) It's awesome that she has a good forever home now.

You are in Florida… a sad hotbed of byb/puppymill country. Yep agree with the rest, looks basenji to me too. You might contact Pam Hamilton because she'll know if you are in the hoarder area. I'll ask her to check in here.

Hi Larka and Lucy, what a fun story about your adoption. I'm in the same boat as you – only three days a basenji owner and learning fast what it entails! Rowdy is also a rescue dog that a friend adopted for me and brought to me this past week. Rowdy is an interesting combination of mischief and gentleness.
