Lurked for a while, probably time to reintroduce myself

  • Showing isn't for every dog. I know I tend to lean away a little when I'm on the table being inspected too. Judges have to get a little personal… Still, no title does not necessarily mean not good stock.

Zinnia has a nice classic tail set too.... Her tail doesn't look like a cinnamon bun balanced on a rock. It's nice to see.

  • Totzlly agree that it is not for every dog. Zin loved it. She thought everyone was there to love her. But Azalea was only doing it for me, if that makes any sense. She tolerated it but never ever had any fun.

Thanks for the nice comments about Miss Z. She has a lot of good about her and I am glad she was my first showdog. She isn't a delicate little thing and I got a few comments that she was "doggy" but I really liked her substance. She has, ahem, a matronly figure these days. But she continues to be a smart, healthy, happy girl. I love her.

Hi and welcome to all of you. You have a gorgeous family, girls and dogs, you are one lucky girl.

  • Hi Gloria, nice to see you here!

  • Welcome..glad you found us.

  • Welcome! I agree, your family, both 2 and 4-leggers, are lovely. Hope your Pip will have a good recovery and many more quality years.

  • Hi Gloria! Glad to see you here! I love Zinnia…her name, her head, everything! Can't wait to hear all about Merry too :)

  • I had to come on over here, guys. You've all been so good to my sister and her husband through the dual tragedies of Curie and Zelda. Your support has helped a lot… so I needed to come over and join the community. Thanks for being here.

  • Great to have you, your girls, the basenjis and all of your critters here with us.

LOL! I will never look at a cinnamon bun the same way! They are all going to be basenji tails instead, and those come with no calories. :)

She sounds very basenji to me - all her antics are things my Shaye does. Also, the look in her eye where she is laying on her side, and the position, are very familiar. I believe that look is "what?… Get out of my face, I'm trying to sleep here!"

Welcome back! See you often on FB but the photos seem so much nicer here. And I agree, love the 'solid color' look with a bit of a blaze. I find that I come to love however my dogs look, prior preferences go out the window once I fall in love with them.

Hello fellow long time Basenji friend. They are such a joy to live with aren't they? Do share your longevity secrets:D Is it exercise? Food? Dental care? We had our first two for 15 and 16 years, and decided that more tooth brushing could have helped. We want to keep our newly adopted Leo around a long long time.

Mind you, Bella was a surprise birthday gift from my husband. He wanted a boxer, but I wanted a smaller dog (he said he wasn't getting either). He went to a pet store:( and saw my girl… and fell in love with her! He arranged everything and proceeded to tell me we were going out and it was a surprise for my birthday. He blindfolded me:cool: and took me there and I didn't know where I was going until I walked into the store. I was asked to guess what my present was... then told to close my eyes while they got her. I didn't know until they put her in my arms who my sweetie girl was going to be.:D How could I resist this beautiful little Basenji baby bundle of joy! I never even imagined it would be a Barkless African dog. I don't approve of puppy mills or encourage them, "backyard breeders" either. But at that very moment these thoughts were further in the back of my mind:rolleyes: ...

Woah! I can't begin to tell you the noises I hear behind me. The two are going at it . . . because ? ? ? ? They must need each other to remind them that they are dogs. (I think). Zuri is very cute!
