Sorry AT&T the dog….

  • Abbey's 6 years old now, officially a Big Girl, right? I came home from work today, put my purse and the mail on the dining room table, and headed to the bedroom to change out of my uniform. 2 or 3 minutes later I come back and discover she had Eaten The Phone Bill and had started on the strap to my purse when I caught her. I'm thinking of hanging out a Free Dog sign.

  • Oh, sorry to laugh, but that is really funny. Sounds like she hates the phone company. How long are you away during the day? I wonder if Abbey is rebelling in some sort of way. Has there been a change to her routines lately?

Best thing to do with a phone bill;)
Seriously i think Basenjis are mischevious for all their lives. One of my old Basenjis parting shot was to chew up my hubbys new glasses.

  • How funny..
Jepp, Otis is only 15 months but has never chewed on shoes before…last week we had kids spend the night and Otis just had to chew one the kids' shoes to pieces...$55.00 stride rite shoes later...ggrrr.

  • Kona is rebelling against me right now. She spent two weeks with my parents while my husband and I were traveling overseas and now she is doing everything in her power to let me know she is not happy with me. Today she shredded my newspaper - bag and all!

By the way - she is completely spoiled at my parent's house…so maybe she is rebelling because she doesn't want to be home?!?

  • My Arnie who is 9 can be a big chewer. He chews up more things now then he did when he was a puppy. My other B who is 11 is like a vacuum cleaner as she likes to eat fuzz and stuff like that off the carpet. Sometimes she will find stuff in the dirt and/or grass. She hardly has any teeth so perhaps she is unable to chew up the big things.

  • Maybe Abbey is telling you it is time to "green" your bills - and go paperless. :D

  • My Nicky is 12 and will still chew a purse strap anytime she gets the chance.

Lisa, Kona has just come from a long visit with "Grandma", of course she is spoiled! We miss seeing you at the park, by the way.

  • I hate my AT&T bill. It's sitting on the counter and I'm thinking of giving it to Buddy to shred. If you call AT&T tell em my dog ate the bill too.

  • My Gossy loves to chew and eat the paper as it comes out of my printer. If she's at the other end of the house and hears the printer start she'll come at a dead run and stick her nose right in the printer to get that paper with the fresh ink.
She'll also chew tissue but I know then she is demanding my attention for something.

  • That never worked for me…either in school or with the bill collector.

In your position, where you really have to take her out a lot, I understand. And I hope her comfort continues. My point was it is situational need, not dog need to be that social. :) I have a slim chance of that having worked with my current 2, but with my incredibly dog aggressive first one, I'd have been out in a basket muzzle and warning everyone to keep their dogs away.

I am so glad that You, your husband and Cricket are OK. You're lucky the bull mastiff did not attack your husband, Im surprised he did not, actually. I have had this happen to me so many times to our dogs. Thankfully it always ends up bad for the other dog/dogs. They go into fight mode right away, which does not make them great at meeting other dogs, but after this happening so many times, I don't trust the other dogs either. If I just have one dog with me, I scoop him up in my arms and that has worked well so far.

I think I saw Sophie on a b video website and I was so glad that someone else's B made that noise I showed it to my husband and daughter. Thanks for posting that video because as a new B owner we thought we had some kind of devel dog!!! She does it the most to our oldest dog Josie. There are nights she even does it from under our covers in bed when she hears Josie moving out in the living room. Too Funny!!!!

Hollie will hide her treats and her dog food. Her favorite hiding place is under MY pillow in the bed. She has tried to hide her entire food bowl by pushing one of her plush toys with her nose in an attempt to get the toy on top of her food bowl. Why doesn't she just use her mouth to pick it up and place it on the bowl? Silly dog!

Since reading a previous thread on the subject, I realize that Nala does yodel, but rarely to us. She will on occasion, but she mainly does the mournful yodeling when we leave her home and go out for walks without her.
