Omg! So cute!!!!
Chances first day

I am still a little tired but decided I would post the progress. Today we took on leash training. That was an interesting experience. 5 steps. Stop. Look around. Chew on Grass. Take another 5 steps. Cry. Eat more grass. Take 5 more steps and sit on bottom. Progress! Hahahaha
I am quite suprised <knock on="" wood="">crate training hasn't been too bad. I took the advice on the forum..I put the crate next to me last night. He cried for about 15 minutes and fell asleep. He would sleep for about 2 hrs and then would wake me up. Took him right outside and he pottied. This is why I have bags under my eyes today Not even coffee could keep me going.
He took a nap in his crate this afternoon in the living room. Puppy kong filled with peanut butter kept him quiet.
I just hope he stays this calm. (keeping fingers crossed)</knock> -

I think BDawg said it best, STOP–--I want one!!! Seriously, I love living my life through you...he is adorable...the bath pictures, the snuggly ones...I couldn't possibly decide which is my favorite photo. Keep posting so I can make a decision...or not have to!!! He is truly adorable...

Just ADORABLE! All those wrinkles and puppy breath and wiggles and….
...Don't tell my DH what I'm contemplating:eek:
I'll get past it in a day or two.

Wow…what a weekend it was. You never realize how much sleep you need until it is gone! This little guy has a set of lungs on him like you wouldn't believe!
Every 2 hours I need to take him outside during the middle of the night. How he can sleep on my lap for 4+ hours but when you put him in his crate he can only hold it 2.
Pottytraining has been a real challenge. Alex takes him outside for 30 minutes and nothing....but as soon as he comes back inside...potty everywhere!
He sure can run though. I take him outside and he just loves to sprint...Maybee Lure Coursing in his blood???I've noticed though that when he sleeps he shakes. Is this puppy dreams? Our last puppy who became ill used to shake but we later found out that he was having seizures. I don't really know the difference. Maybee it is the concerned parent in me. Is this normal?
Someone once told me to NEVER wake a Basenji while sleeping. I wake Chance all the time because if I didin't he would sleep all afternoon and then keep me awake all night. Now lets talk about puppy breath. One word...Pee-Yeeewww! It smells like garlic and poo. So strong too! Not to mention this little guy loves to give kisses. That breath could make anyone run but that face! I can't resist the kisses.
No Baroo yet but I think it's coming. He gets really excited when we play and I think one of these days it will come out.
I have to say...the little one is great even with my lack of sleep. I'll post some more pics soon.

Enjoy that puppy breath….....that's funny.
I'm positive you're enjoying every minute........I'm really happy for you and he is so cute.
I watch some of ours do some weird stuff when sleeping, shaking, running, even some sounds trying to come out.........dreams????? Who knows?
That first little Baroo will be so special.;)

If he is shaking when he is sleeping, are you sure he isn't cold? Remember that when he was cold with his littermates he could just snuggle up closer to them for warmth.
As for the potty training don't give up. Make sure you praise him when he goes outside. He needs to know when he is doing the right thing.
The screaming every 2 hours is probably because he doesn't really want to be in the crate so he screams so he can get out. With mine, I carry them out into the backyard to their business at night and then carry them back in so they don't think of it as a "play time".

Oohh I'll give that a try. He does think it's play time and will start to romp arond the living room tripping all over his feet at 4 am
Thanks Lisa!
