• Mine love Puppy Ziggies and think regular Ziggies are okay. I have not had a problem with them. I do have one dog that pukes after eating raw egg.

  • @tanza:

I would not wonder if maybe he ate it too fast?

I thought so too, but this is the second time he has tried it, the first also resulted in puke.
He just lay there and chewed on it like any other treat. Not eager at all.

Now he backs off just smelling them! Will put them away for a week or so, and try again.

  • I dont know about Gizmo, but its seems Maverick has a VERY Sensitive tummy. If he even eats a TINY bit more than usual he gets sick… also, often when he tries something new he wont keep it down the first time... None of it is worrisome except that if he eats more than a cup a doggie food a day, he throws it up. Were going to ask the vet about it.

I wanted to try the puppie Ziggies, but the site was sold out, so I opted for the regular. Maybe it could be his stomach is just not ready for them?

Will try the puppy ones once they are in stock…
It's pretty ridiculous. It's actually cheaper for me to order from the UK just ONE package, including postage, than buying them here in Norway. God this country sucks.

  • That's a heck of a pile…try breaking the cookie into pieces rather than giving him the whole thing at once.

Do you split up Maverick's meals?

  • I'm not sure what 'Ziggies' are but my Benji has problems with some foods. He gets a lots of dried fish biscuits. We tried him on the prawn variety and he was sick instantly. We also have kongs and bought a liver filling thing for them. He had this once and was sick straight away. He now turns his nose up at the prawn biscuits so we know not to offer them to him anymore. He is totally fine with all other fishy biscuits. I think some dogs just have sensitive tummies.

  • Lana is ok with most of the stuff that she eats, even some of the homemade food/treats that my mom makes for the other two dogs. Very rarely does her stomach gets upset (knock on wood), but if it does, it's all over the place… The vet said that when that happens, to keep her on cottage cheese and/or rice for one or two days. Reading some of the stuff about sensitive tummies makes me wonder... do I have a "defective" basenji? She does live with two "normal" non-B dogs though. Not that I am complaining about her not throwing up...

  • My gramma's dogs could eat the tail off a three days dead skunk and be perfectly fine. AJ, on the other hand, gets an upset tummy from getting too excited. I wonder if the line has anything to do with it?

  • I am going slightly off topic here, but Gizmo has been puking again and this time from his food. And he puked up a HUGE amount of food! So I am wondering if he is puking because he might be full/overeating? Or he might be sick.

What I wanted to know, just how much dry-food do you guys give on a daily bases?

As of now (following the feeding instructions on the dogfood), he gets 240g a day, which I split into 2 meals of 120g.

This morning I gave him only 60g, and so far he has kept it down. Although, he did leave a spoon full.

  • Nerdy, I have no answer, my Arleigh loves the Ziggys and has no ill effects from them. I don't buy them because they are more expensive (for my purpose) than the other just 'cookie' kinda thing that I buy for the Kong. I don't remember what they are called, but they are made for Kong and I put one in it every morning before I leave for work. And every now and again, I'll put another, smaller treat of some kind in underneath the actual Kong treat. He loves it and waits for it every morning. And yes, he also sometimes just plays with his empty Kong.

Since he started puking, has he pooped at all? I sure hope he doesn't have a blockage, but if he eats and poops just normal, yet pukes maybe he is eating to fast or too much, or maybe he simply has a bug.
Keep us posted, I sure hope he is keeping his dinner down..

Otis has a sensitive stomach at times, but more diarrhea then vomit..yet he eats all kinds of junk and crap, so no wonder he has issues at times.

The kong, what a money waster in our house..I have, with these 4 dogs included, had 7 dogs and none, not a single one gave the kong a time of day..nada. I don't know why, but they simply don't like them.

  • A quick update about his puking.

Found out it was a result from his food, not the Kong treat. Some of you might remember I mentioned he was itching a lot. Well I found some small lumps on his body, which seemed similar to what I get from allergic reactions. So I stopped feeding him his kibble (Arden Grange), and switched to a wet food called Nature Diet that has 100% natural ingredients.

He is no longer puking, and his itchiness has decreased. But he did gag up a small amount today from a bone I bought. So there must be something his body is rejecting.
