Peeing in the crate!

  • How old is Simba? Is this something new? Or ongoing? Are you certain that when you are putting him outdoors he is going? Most likely taking him for a walk before crating might be a good idea (if you are not doing that)…. then you know for sure that he has gone.

  • Simba is 5yrs old, its a rather new thing. Like within the past year. I go out with him and i know that he is going potty when he goes out. We have always had other dogs with him and now he is the only dog. Do you think that could possibly be the issue?

Sounds like he anxiety about being alone.

  • Has he been tested for Fanconi? Is there a possibility he might have a urinary infection?

Good ideas, both… and if both are OK, then I would seriously think
anxiety if this is a new behavior and you have had recent changes in the home concerning the loss of other dogs.

  • My dog peed in his crate last night for the first time. I remember being told that he would forget his toilet trainning when he started to teethe. Anyone else experience this?

Yes definitely…I can remember a specific time that I was playing with Liyah and a tooth fell out - then she jumped down off the couch and peed right on the floor. I'd say that was because of teething. :D

Happens a lot when they start to get their adult teeth for whatever reason, not all of them, but many experience this… mine were split about 50/50....

  • My boy Cairo has started to pee in his crate sometimes when my mom puts him in there, he doesn't do it a lot. He is 4 1/2 months old, he has been doin great on goin to the door when he wants out to do number 1 and 2. He lost a tooth that my mom found while I was at work the other day and I looked in his mouth and eevidently he has lost two. Bout midway back in his mouth, I can see the adult teeth barely poking through his gums.

  • Many puppies will totally forget about house training when they really start to teeth…. so just always go back to housetraining 101

Just thought I'd share an update on this. I removed the blankets from the crate and replaced them with a mattress. We have been strict about her only staying in the crate at night. When we have had accidents I have cleaned up, with a dog urine killing spray, and placed her back in the crate. Everything is progressing smoothly, not had any accidents for over a week now. So it's been a rather quick turnaround, lovely to have her properly crate trained again. Thank you all for sharing advice on the situation.

I have noticed my female besingi mix (18months) of age becoming more and more agressively towards me, children, and other dogs. She is very well socialized however she is becoming more dominant, wanting to nip at faces agressively when playing with dogs who too want to attack playfully at the face. However, she has become very aggressively to mommy when trying to keep her outside while I vacuum and she absolutely hates the vaccum and having the door shut closing her off from me. SHe tried to bite my arm (very agressive face with fangs out and fur up) last week and I had to use a broom in order to shut the door. Additionally, she snarls at children. Khloe and I are the only 2 in my household, so no kids and no one else. Only few friends and neighbors stop by but lately she is getting even more aggressive towards them, even if she knows them. I do not know what to do. We were kicked out of puppy training when she was 4 months old b/c she has severe leash aggression. She does work well with a clicker, but I dont always have the clicker on me. My vet today told me to come on here to see if you guys could potentially help or lead me to the right direction of contacting an animal behavioralist. He stated Khloe will only get worse if nothing is done. Additionally, I do not spank Khloe, I only use a clicker, but obviously does not show her that I am the dominant one. SHe also demands all of my time to the light up laser for hours on end and will not give up. Please help! Vonda

mine are all in the same room - it's the den and has a large sliding glass door so everyone can see out. Digital, the brindlewonderkid, is left to go where ever he likes. Usually he's in the den or bedroom.

Can I ask…my previous guy seemed to actually lick himself just so he wouldn't have an accident. Usually when I had left him for longer than normal 'cause I had errands or something. I would come home, let him out of the crate, but I always wanted to change clothes first and while I was changing he would, sometimes, just lick and lick, until we went out. Was he just putting up with me and being a really good dog?! Or being a perv?!

This whole story is so sad and so sweet. This thread really needs a new, more respectful and descriptive title. Even though I understand the desperate frustration in why it was named this at the start. {{{hugs}}} to you, Rocky's forever mom.
