  • Jabu is a handsome young dude. Thank goodness for the rescue of these dogs. Hopefully they will all find good homes.

  • Great photos. I hope all of these b's get loving homes.

  • Congratulations! Jabu is darling and lucky to have you for his forever home.

  • Check out the new thread re Fl BRAT puppies needing homes.
Maybe there is one for you???

  • @MacPack:

Here is the mahogany colored female, Kizzie, with green-gold eyes…stunning!

Well, thanks to this thread (dont know how I missed the story in the news), we visited Pam and the rescued Basenji's today. We brought our 10 year old basenji with us, and we all had a blast. We decided to adopt Kizzie and give her the loving home she deserves. We recently lost a beagle of 10 years and our basenji has been so lost without "her beagle". My wife and I love animals, have been married 21 years, and have no kids, so our animals have always been our kids. They are spoiled just as much as any of our friends or relatives kids, and we enjoy doing it. We are ready for the unique challenge that awaits us. Our goal is to get Kizzy comfortable enough that she want to go out in the boat with us, as we live on the Gulf, and our basenji loves to go boating.
Pam still had at least 1 puppy, a few kids and lots of adults available. My wife would have taken a few more home if I would have agreed.:)

  • God bless you! Enjoy your new family member

  • Awesome! I love Kizzie, I worked with her and 4 others while they were still at the shelter. She is gorgeous and was a sweetheart. I haven't sen her in along time and am so glad she found her forever home.

We have a group that gets together in Tampa every Sunday, would love to have you join us once you get her settled. One of the boys in that shelter kid-group was adopted by a Clearwater couple and has come to the park to meet the "big basenji gang" and he did great.

At any rate, big congratulations and maybe we can meet up someday!

  • Great news Triciaw, welcome to the forum.
    Pics would be great:D

He did look like he had short legs but I thought his body was long for a Rat Terrier. I am so used to them having a docked tail and much more white on the body. I thought he may be a poorly bred Basenji. Mansfield is not too far away from the Amish area. I wonder if he barks much! Jennifer

@JudyStuart: You have Victoria! We have Ginadari, who we call Gina. I think they came in at the same time too, along with Gina's brother, Ziggy. Hi Judy, Yes, I have Gina's sister. You and I spoke on the phone. Here's the Fire Service Report: Sept 2: Unpredictable. Only 28% contained. Evacuations-fire conditions change constantly. Fire very active today. Extreme fire behavior observed when winds and slopes were in alignment. Est containment date moved from sept 6 to sept 15. Acres burned: 140,150. Lightening-thunder storms predicted for Sept 3. Mandatory evacuations: Acton/AguaDulce areas, Tahunga Canyon, Big Tahunga Canyon, Mt. Wilson, Angeles National Forest and more. Karen and Chuck are still holding out at the ranch. That could change. I'm sure thoughts of leaving the ranch unattended is heart breaking and evacuating so many Basenji's overwhelming. Post Office is still standing, so I sent funds today, in hopes it doesn't burn down. Thanks to all of you! Maxie (aka Leigh)

@BasenjiDiva: Wow, Vicki. Although we are down in Savannah, we also have a place up between Young Harris and Hiawassee. Maybe we could meet up sometime. Don't know how our little female hellion would do with your female though. Our male would probably be okay. Also would love to hear more about your petsitting business that you mentioned. When we are up there we would sometimes like to be able to leave for awhile without worrying about the beasties. Pat Hello - Yes, I would love to meet you when you visit your vacation home. razzcinn at aol dot com. I have two female Basenjis that are doing well together, but I, too, would be concerned about another female Basenji. Monday, I'm interviewing a retired older lady who pet sits and she will stay in the home all day and night, if needed. I need a dependable sitter, too. I often babysit for people who would like to go to dinner and get away w/o worrying about their pets. If I can't help you, I'm certain I can recommend several other dependable sitters.
