Happy Birthday, AJ!

Tomorrow, January 3, AJ will be 7 years old. He started out with a family, but the circumstances didn't work out. After five years with his family, he became a happy, spoiled truck dog.
Although my gramma raised Basenji for 50 years in Oregon, I did not ever think I would become "property of." Well, here we are almost two years later and AJ makes me glad I took him in every day.
Happy Birthday, my friend! Let's have many more together.:)

Yes, I have his pedigree back five generations. Some Basenji have a lazy single-loop tail like AJ. It is not a fault in the show ring. It's just a variation like any other (Trindle, markings, etc.)

There are many, many Basenjis with open tails, especially many of the Avongara lines.

Happy Birthday to AJ King of the Open Road!! How wonderful it must be to have a career most B's can only dream about. Mine has to settle for Squirrel Patrol in the back yard and trips around the block. Best wishes from Lenora and Abbey who turned 6 on Christmas Day (that's OK, twice the presents!).

First things first - Happy b'day AJ - hope you had a great day!
Nerdy…My 5yo girl Ruby (pure-bred retired champion show dog) has a tail that is looser and open like that. Ruby's droops over her back. I've seen many that have similar and even looser tails than AJ's and my Ruby's. It isn't uncommon.
