Pony Girl

Basenji Rescue
  • hey i found this gorgeous B girl on petfinder. Thought I would put something up here, in case she is the right dog for someone. she must be an only pet and is afraid of men. what a pretty black and white lady.

    http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5992219

Notes: Pony has been a show dog as you can see by her pictures, her owner is parting with her because she has several other dogs and Pony does NOT LIKE OTHER DOGS< CATS OR ??? SHE MUST BE AN ONLY PET> A home with just a lady is the best, she is VERY VERY shy of and afraid of men. She is 6 yrs old, a fine lil lady and just wants a lap to lay on and have her tummy rubbed, someone to sleep with and watch tv with. A fenced yard is a must also. for an application to adopt Pony please write to us. Yes there is an adoption fee of $100.00 She is spayed, all shots are current for one year. UPDATE: Pony is and shall remain with her owner until and unless the right home for her is located. We are not just trying to place this lil dog to be rid of her.

This pet is up to date with routine shots.
This pet is already house trained.
    This pet has been altered.

to be fair, i would just like to add that there are other basenjis on this site as well as many mixes (some that are way too cute) needing homes

How sad, may Karma catch up with her soon. Sooo important buyers educate themselves so lowlife breeders can't make a living off any animal. Jolanda and Kaiser

@Quercus: I wasn't actually referring to dogs that are affected, but indentified as carriers. I was remember a discussion that occurred very early on in the testing, that some carriers may have some 'bleed thru' of the 'guilty' gene, and spill sugar very late in life. And Dr. Johnson wasn't sure if it was due to regular old age kidney changes, or some sort of genetic explanation. It is very possible that that is very old information, and no longer accurate…but it wasn't the case of inaccurate testing at all. Good information about testing carriers monthly, though. I didn't realize that, and I haven't been doing it...guess I need to start again.. I have never heard of anyone talking about "bleed thru" or what that is supposed to me. A dog cannot spill sugar [as in fanconi] without having two mutant genes. Which would then mean that the dog is affected. And to make sure it is understood, the two girls that were actually affected did NOT have inaccurate testing. Nothing happened at the lab or at home. The dogs DNA actually shows that they are carriers. Remember this is the linkage test, and not a direct test. With the recent equipment purchase and plan of some more testing, they wre able to narrow the 'possble' genes down to 1/3 of what they were planning to look at…so hopefully more info is forthcoming soon. It is good to know this girl will be getting a great home! Good luck with her!

I will get the info and post that. I know they are very young, so I suspect puppies, like 4-8 months I believe.

I will forward this to BRAT, but BRAT doesn't pay for dogs…if the shelter wants to release her to BRAT, I am sure they can help her. But thank you for letting me know. I will send this on asap.

If you can get the full pedigree information, you might want to contact Sally Wallis who maintains the pedigree website. In her personal database she does collect breeder information when available. So she may have at least the names of the breeders and may be able to give them to you.
