  • We're moving right along these days!

We will be in this next location within the next few days.

    State:
This state produces 99.5% of dates grown in the US.
The largest three-day rodeo in the US is held here.
It contains the world's only burlesque museum.
This state is home to the world's largest living things. (extra credit for naming them.)

    Now, the city:
This city borders the world's largest landlocked harbor and produces more sourdough bread than any other city in the world.

    We'll see y'all down the road…

    Cheers!

  • Am I allowed to guess right away? California, San Francisco Bay and the redwood trees.

  • We were going to head for Oakland, CA, but plans have changed. It's the nature of this business…

    See y'all down the road!

  • Ooh I couldn't come up with anything on this one :( - especially since I thought whales were the largest so that threw me.

  • Aha!…But I didn't say largest living animals…I was speaking of the Great Grandfathers of Northern California, the Giant Sequoia commonly known as Redwoods. :D

So, I guess I couldn't have seen you in my recent trip throught the city of flying pigs (for those unaware, there is one). Two hours of stop and go southbound, trying to get to the airport. I was in the backseat and looked at every truck on the off chance there might be an AJ sighting. Obviously, no luck, as you were a few time zones away :) Had I seen AJ, I might have jumped out of the car I was in and jumped into your truck for a couple of miles…just to say 'Hi'...that's how slow going it was. My advise, for north or southbound, take the by-pass...but what do I know? There were plenty of trucks willing to wade through the traffic.

@Basenjimamma: …Oh, I want one of those generators too..they are just so darn expensive..We need them down here too, if we have a storm, our neighborhood of 25 or so homes are one of the last on the list to get our power back..it sucks.. We do have a generator that is large enough to either run the fridge and a few lamps, OR our waterpump..so you have to pick your battles when the electricity goes.. Yeah, see my problem is I want the whole house automatically on when the power goes out - gone are the days when I find it an adventure! As it is, I've compromised and were only doing the first floor (including all kitchen, laundry, office, bedrooms, bath, basement - furnace, well/water) and the only thing on the 2nd floor will be the bathroom. During the ice storm last winter we lost power for 4 days. During the ice storm of 98 (?) we lost power for 17days - CNN was filming right in front of our house.

@AJs: It's been a very long time since I read The Wizard of Oz. Is Wichita where the story starts? I googled "Dorothy's House Wichita" and nothing came up except ways to get to Liberal. That's where the house is that is advertised all over Kansas as THE Dorothy's House. From what I understand (and I have been wrong before…it could happen again) the house in Liberal is where they did some of the filming. But I love the Witch-ita reference...:D I think Dorthy's house was just considered to be a farm house "out in the middle of nowhere".
