She looks a lot like my Katie. We say Basenji/Shepherd for Katie too. We think Basenji because of her voice, wrinkles, curly tail, avid prey drive, penchant for lure coursing, nightly grooming rituals, and get-into-everything-ness, although it could be any of the primitive/pariah type dogs, so the Basenji could be complete fantasy. -Nicole

@AC~Akeyla: Well, we recieved an email from the coordinator of the B we want to adopt. She is ready to set up a home visit… I figure that's better than not hearing back from them. Huh? Also, what are they looking at when they come for a home visit? I'm happy to hear the good news. You have a good coordinator. My application and request to adopt fell through the cracks, so I'm happy to hear people in your area are efficient and on the ball. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Cale and I are currently in the process of adopting a senior dachshund through Almost Home Dachshund Rescue. Oscar is 11 years old and has a heart murmur. He has a little white "frosting" around his mouth, and he is lumpy. We meet the foster mom to pick him up this Saturday. This will be my first senior rescue, although it will be our fourth (and last for now) dog. This will also be our second dachshund named Oscar, but we think it is too late in life to change his name. Now we will have the Oscars. I am actually really inspired by this little old man. Think about it - he doesn't know he is old, doesn't know he has a heart condition, and doesn't know that he might not last much longer. He lives every day to the fullest, which I wish I did more often. I am really happy that Cale and I can give a loving, safe home to a little old man who deserves it. I think he can teach us all a little something.
