Very nice article but now I have questions. Most not all breeders do not want there puppies they have sold to breed. If I am to understand the article negative male before one year and female same cause bone cancer. With that having been said does that not been we harm our puppies because breeder said we had to do it???

Many of the breeders I know ask owners to spay before the first heat, usually around 8 months, if the female is not going to be bred because this very dramatically reduces the bitch's chance of developing mammary cancer. With males most ask owners to neuter between 10-12 months to give time for the growth plates to close.

Seriously though...I am a big fan of spay and neuter unless a dog is being used for breeding. I understand that is NOT the common sentiment in Europe, and I can understand and respect that. In the US we have such a problem with irresponsible pet owner, spay and neuter is the only logical choice for most. Personally, I prefer have non-breeding stock neutered in my house, so I don't have any oopsies.
Note: Edited to say NOT the common sentiment in Europe...sorry for being confusing....

When I grew up in Europe, and lets face it, that was a long time ago, none of the dogs I knew were spayed/neutered, not ours nor our friends.
Now a days it might be different, I do not know..that being said, I think the unresponsible petownership is more common here (in US)..meaning people that don't fix their dogs don't always/never play by the rules..i.e keep their inseason dog/bitch home, inside away from other dogs..so therefor we have more muttbred puppies all year long being born here.So why not promote spaying or neutering, you almost have to, regardless of whether it is the best for the dogs health or not.
Am I making any sense at all? I know what I am wanting to say, but I don't know if it is coming out right..from my fingers.

I have only placed 1 female in a pet home, there have only been 4 Kinetic born females and I have 2 and my mom has 1. The 4th was spayed at 8 months old before going into season for the first time. Most of the boys are in pet homes and most of the owners call asking if they can neuter than sooner than 1 year old. I tell them once they are over 10 months old they can go ahead and get them neutered, if that will be best for their household.
