    hi i own a female and i would like to let her have a mate. She is very sweet and loves dogs. I want to breed her once before she passes away. She is 5. Please try and point me to someone who can help me….or if you can. I cant afford to much to buy one but I will care for it VERY VERY well once I have it. I have 6 dogs. I am selling 3 of the huskies and i would like to share my home with another Basenji. I would like a red/white male unnuetered basenji. I love this fascinating breed.

    do you know where I can find a basenji to just have as a pet then? I just wanted to breed her to have a puppy, I wanted to keep ALL of here puppies, even if she has like 3 or 6 I love Basenjis and want good for them but I would like to have one of hers, or have one of another dogs…I just like the breed!

    Twiddles, there are many good breeders on this site and more to be found doing some research. Plan your next Basenji, even if you have to wait a year or longer, and drive many miles to get one. Your wait and effort will be rewarded with a quality dog that you will be happy with and be very proud of.

    BRAT is also another option to go, so many good dogs are in need of a good loving home.

I had a nice long chat with a woman at the shelter who thought he likely escaped his adoptive home and that the owners might not want him back. So far none of his adoptive homes were Basenji experienced. The tail. Have to agree. Still, could have a nice Basenji attitude. :oncoming_fist::beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

    @elbrant - Nothing to verify, they put in the "ad" what the pup received... and also a Vet would not give out that information. Like I said below, I did fill out their requested form but have not received a response. My bet it someone already got scammed...sad to say

    Please go to Basenjirescue.org and join as a member. It will show you are serious about helping. BRAT always needs good foster homes. A home visit will be required (not sure if that is possible at this time considering this COVID-19 crisis). It is especially helpful if you have basenji experience. Not always, but very often, a basenji coming into rescue has special needs (i.e., behavioral, medical, etc.). It is good to ask yourself if you and your family are willing to deal with that. Fostering is hard but it can also be a wonderful and rewarding thing to do.
