I GOT A NEW african import!!

Basenji Talk
  • thanks :) I am busy getting more of them for in my e-business, IF there is enough interest for them, as I also like it very much , I hope to put the webshop online next month. It is not easy to get those and the shipping is expensive and takes long from Africa, I have to find out exactly what they are going to cost and then find enough interests to buy them in advance so I can get my client to import more at once for me.

  • I love that, let us know when you have any for sale, as I would love to have one.

  • Yeah! You finally have them!!!

  • Cool!! Where in Africa did he find it?

  • Wow, it's lovely

  • When you have a bunch let us all know - you'll get lots of sales right here on the Forum, as I'm sure you know!

  • Those are to die for they are beautiful. We would love to have one who knows maybe two.
They would fit right in with all the other stuff we have from other countries.
We have Bossons from England, Wall Plates from Germany, Japanese silk dolls, Japanese silk wall hangs and mother of pearl plaques from Japan.
This would be great they are so very nice please let all of know. Thank you.

  • wowww all these nice replies!! I will certainly try to get some more, also in different sizes ( this one is BIG ! ) and I was thinking, I personally would like to have 2, one left one right, they would look nice on the windowshelf or something ( is that a correct english word? )
they are all hand carved so there will be differences in every one, when I know more on sizes, delivery time etc, prices I will put it on the forum in "classifieds" I only know that they will not be cheap, but well it is real african art from our african breed! when I know more I will put it on the forum and when there is still enough interest you can place pre-orders and I will make sure you get your order.or something like that. I that an idea for all the interests here?:)

  • Can hardly wait to hear from you and again thank you. Here is a ha! Ha! who ever said a Basenji was cheap.

  • Ah-hahahahaha! You totally had me for a second there! I was expecting to see a live B when I scrolled down! :) That's a super cool carving - nice find!

@jalex said in New pup!: @senjisilly i read in quite a few different places that looking at their teeth is an issue. She wont let me do anything actually but she does let me hold her. Its been a rough week. As with any dog/breed you need to be sure theyre a fit for your family and so far if she is a B I'm struggling to believe itll work out but we're trying! I appreciate the input and guidance, thank you! She's a puppy. Her behaviors are puppy behavior... period. Puppies bite, they do what they can get away with. She is darling, she definitely looks very basenji. But if you really have doubts, contact basenji rescue and let them find her a home while she's still a puppy. Frankly, I suspect you are letting BASENJI close your vision. They have quirks, but overall no better or worse than most breeds. All dogs take patience and that you be at least as persistent as they are. At her age, she doesn't get the option of "won't allow me to do anything." Without yelling, hitting or rough behavior, you really can turn it all around. Right now is the time she must learn you can check her teeth, look between her toes, check her ears, etc. At some point in life, it may be critical, so training her NOW is important. But it can also be relationship building and fun. :) Mary has one of the easiest to follow sites. You just start working on training so that she comes to see you as the one to guide her. To entertain her by helping her use her brain. It will be okay. :) Training on left, issues on right: http://www.clickerlessons.com/index.htm You have a world of help here, you can do this. :)

how about their coats for camoflage…. I remember Beta who was a tri, laying in the sun near some florida pams and it was really sunny. One of those days when the leaves were bright but the shadows were really dark. I couldnt see her! She completely camoflaged into the scenery. I suppose the red basenjis can camoflage into a sandy setting?

Thanks for your replies. I've started giving Sonia Glucosamine w/ MSM every day and we'll see how she does. I'll give you an update in about a month and let you know if it's helped or not.

Welcome…no breeding info. from me, but I'm certain you'll get lots of feedback and have fun with others who share your passion for Basenjis! I got mine from a NH breeder and we live in VT. Enjoy!

I think an original idea should be developed that is associated with bs. The weims dressed up is so classic for them. Bs should somehow be associated with messes. Maybe they should be paired with new furniture advertising or TP sales!!! Weims became so popular tho, they are having probs in rescue. They are very high energy and most people can't give them enough exercise. I think my idea would prevent Bs from becoming too popular and lots more ending up in rescue. :D
