• Here is an example using one of my dogs.

Sire: Kenset The Wheels In Motion
Dam: Ch Sherwood's Red Moon Rising JC
    DOB: 12/30/2000
Breeder: Robyn Dubbert and Stephanie Hall

HM93848503, DC Sherwood's Shadow Of The Moon MC, LCM, VetFCh, JOR, B/W, Female

I forgot to mention if you want your dog's titles listed to include them with the registered name.

  • Jaycee on list but you do not have the following info.
Not sure listed here or what so I have listed it if wrong sorry.
Have her name Jaycee Tag Princess of Wild Spirit

    Date of birth: 12.26.08
    Color: Red and White

Have not done Fanconi yet hoping to get it done this week.

Do you know her Sire and Dam? And/or registration number if she is AKC registered?

Sally has a direct connection to the OFA Fanconi data base, so when the results are posted there, her pedigree site is automatically update provided the information matches.

Note is it also important when you register your Basenji in the CPP data base and do the DNA Fanconi paperwork that you list the sire and dam. If truely a rescue and that information is unknown, then something like "unknown rescue" can be used for Sire and Dam information

  • Sally has Jaycee all ready listed just not all of the information.
The information was date of birth and color.
Going to try and get the fanconi done and sent in this week.

  • For anyone using Sally's database, R/W is considered the default color so if no color is listed in the database it is assumed the dog is R/W.

If you are listing corrections or additions it is helpful to provide the dog's registered name or registration number so it can easily be looked up in the database and the correction/addition made.

  • I need a correction to the database.

    Medjai
    (AFS)
    Black Tan & White
    M
    HP239357/01 USA
    28 Nov 2006

His mother is genetically not as reported, therefore should be removed from the database as a link to Medjai

  • Houston

    I need addded to Otis' "page";
First his AKC # so it is easier to find; HP34034401
    color: Brindle and White
Fanconi: clear, although I saw what you wrote regarding direct link, Tanza..
    Breeder: Mark Hayman

    Thanks

  • Slightly OT. This is a wonderful thread but I was wondering if you could also start an info thread about the abbreviations used at Sally's site. I see (ie) SDHR, and BBHR, in red under some dogs, along with championships, titles, etc…, that I don't completely understand.

In short, in dog speak, can you throw me a bone here??? 😃 Thanks!!

  • For those wanting the meanings of the abbreviations you can find them in this thread.

I see that now… thanks ... I didn't go look first... Good to get the DNA done... she should either be Clear, Carrier or IND (Between Clear and Carrier). The most we have in the data base, the better stats we have to evaluate not only pedigrees but the value of the test... at least until we have a direct test.

  • His mother is genetically not as reported, therefore should be removed from the database as a link to Medjai

This happens all too often that the parents are not as they appear on the pedigree given to new owners. It is particularly noticeable when a brindle or a black & white occurs from two r/w parents. This is genetically impossible. I have removed Mom from Medjai and also from his alleged litter-sister, Angel Of Heaven.

SDHR, and BBHR, in red under some dogs, along with championships, titles, etc…, that I don't completely understand.

Now do I ! I get them from proud owners and from the AKC Award Books which Marvin gets me for Christmas every year. I am sure they can be found somewhere but like all else, it is a question of time.

    I have added Jaycee's birth date - thanks !

Otis - I have painted him with stripes (sorry they were left off) but I have to check - he is Webedoggies Otis Von Sverige Spunk ??? I really do need the full name to be quoted to be sure. I've added a (CL) Fanconi code.

All these will appear with other alterations and additions as soon as I get around to doing a total re-indexing exercise and re-upload the whole thing. It isn't quick so I do it about once a week.

I am desperate to get to the CPP website to update the Fanconi coding on the d/b but we have a house-guest this fortnight and all kinds of things happening in the garden. The dogs are happily engaged in gnawing huge knuckle bones around the lawns ! I need to go North to a club specialty this weekend but will be back on Monday and will look to make sure I get any/all corrections. I hope next week to get updates on the CPP site too.

PLEASE let's have good weather - but not too hot - on Sunday. I am planning on having cameras at the ready.

Thanks for starting this thread, Lisa. It could prove invaluable to the d/b.

Sally, On Otis you are correct, as far as the name..
Good luck on the weather and the picture taking on sunday, meanwhile enjoy your company and happy, quiet dogs in the backyard…

  • On Otis you are correct, as far as the name..

I don't mean to be picky and many times I can correctly ID the dog from the call name but I really can't afford mistakes except when my own fingers do it.

you know, i always wondered about how you knew. It was just sort of magical. Your website and the book The Basenji Stacked and Moving are 2 things I think every breed should have. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job!!! I'm in awe of how you do it all.

  • Thank you for all your hard work and I know it is hard work keeping up with all of that. I wish I could help in some way. Thank you adding Jaycee birth date not sure you had her color it is red and white. Have fun with house guest and great weekend. Thanks again.

    Rita Jean

  • i always wondered about how you knew

AKC Award books, kind breeders who send in litter data as soon as it is registered, various National websites (Finland, Poland, Sweden and others), people who go to shows and nag other exhibitors into sending me data. Basenji Lists (BRAGS). Various 'official' publications - UK Breed Record Supplements etc. BRAT and other Rescue Organisations. Show catalogues (Lisa V. is a huge help here - I simply don't have time to visit Onofrio etc when results are 'up'). Once you have a litter registration number, the AKC website will often furnish siblings if they are registered. Helpful folks in some countries - which reminds me I need to nag South America and Russia again soon. . . and even the CPP website combined with the AKC ditto.

I see from the incoming mail this morning there is more from BRAT and from Italy - I will try to do a total re-indexing exercise this evening or tomorrow morning.

Sally, you are an amazing person for doing all this. What an asset for the breed and for B owners and breeders. Thank you.

  • OK - don't look now, give it all time to be ftp'd. But corrections and additions are on their way to the pedigree website.

    spw

  • Thanks Sally!

One way that people can help Sally. If you find a new basenji website you can see if the dogs on the site are listed in Sally's database. If they are not, you can send her the information. There are new websites up all the time and they can be great sources of information but it is impossible for one person to find all of them.

  • It is important to get non AKC registered Bs in Sally's database. They are difficult to track since these registries do not have a database like the AKC. Just let Sally know what registry it is when you send her the information. I have seen Bs registered with APRI, ACA, CKC-Continental Kennel Club and UABR.

If you are able to get pedigree information on petstore pups that are being sold, please send it also.

Sally I appreciate all the work you do with the database!

    Thanks!

    Jennifer
