Some pictures of Otis, feeling much better..

  • Houston

Took some pictures of Otis today when he was out playing in the yard. He is very keen on using his nose as all B's, and has figured out that "the chickens smell good, wonder if they taste good.." So far he has left them alone, gives them a chase but leaves them alone..the thrill of the hunt..

Needless to say he is feeling great again, no more stiffness and no more diarrhea (metacam gave him horrible stomach problems). He is as good as new..

  • He is beautiful. I love the middle pic with the brindle showing through.

Medjai just got a similar smelling experience. He just found out yesterday what desert tortoises smell like, but when he actually found the tortoise, it spooked him as he didn't expect it to move.

  • Looks great! Wonderful to hear all is well.

  • He seems al happy again, great to hear he's okay again!

  • good to hear he is all better again :)

  • Good to see Otis looking so happy and well after his ordeal.

One of my puppy people in So. California have a tortoise… that is huge.. and very old.... When Tiba was a baby, she thought it was great fun to stand on top of "Fluffy"..... Her Mom, Fatia (who I placed with Tiba) did not think it was amusing..gggg

And as Tiba grew up, she would have to be kenneled when it came time to feed Fluffy... cause she would steal all the fruits from him.

I hope she got pics of that , it sounds too funny. Otis steals fruit all the time too. He has yet to figure out that it is fruit in the bowl on the counter, I guess because it has skin on it, but once you bite into one or cut it up, it is free for the taking..he thinks..

I do have a picture someplace of Fluffy… will have to go through my pictures (not digital) and see if I can find one.

I know how it is pre-digital times, I have tons and tons of pictures, they are just so time consuming to go through. I like the digital era…just look in your pictures on the 'puter and it is all there.

  • Glad to see Otis is better. I had problems with my elderly BC and Metacam. It just doesn't agree with some dogs!

  • I'm so glad Otis survived his close call with a car! He looks fine, but I doubt he has "learned his lesson". He is a lucky dog many ways, wonderful to see him looking so good.

  • So glad Otis is feeling chipper! I'm sure all Basenjis would like to outlaw cars, except for getting in and going to the park or some other big adventure.

  • So glad he is feeling better! Love the pictures! Keep us posted on his progress…

I Definitely do not think he has learned on thing from his ordeal, he tries to gun it as soon as the door opens, to get into the front yard. Now I have been working on him to sit if the door opens and so far so good..but I don't trust him..
Either way he is feeling much better in his body, his stomach is still upside down, severe diarrhea, has lost 1.6 lbs since monday, not good. I just came back from the vet and they ran several tests, nothing came back suspicious, so we are doing a 30 day cure of probiotics, a wormer to be on the safe side, as well as a 3 day cure of antibiotics. He is not acting as if his stomach is sore when palpatated, which is good, according to the vet..He ate two servings of food when we got back, well I actually just gave him one more, because he was acting as if he was still hungry..
Again, thanks for all his well wishes..
On a different note, the vet was giving him some treats and after giving him a few she continued to talk to me….he wouldn't have any of that..he started talking to her in a really weird growly manner, it was so funny..he has never done that before..needless to say he got more treats after that.

Not as often as he used to, but he still does it once in a big while, and then he tries to dive under the couch like he used to, but instead he just slams into it because he is too big! haha

Better that they get a check up at the vets as this doesn't seem to clear up. Might they have licked the bird poop as well as the feed? I know that birds can carry disease. I would haven't have thought suet would cause caused an ongoing problem. Let us know what the vet decides please.

@McCannClan: What an adorable girl! I love those wrinkles and she actually poses for you. I cannot get my new girl to sit still long enough for that… I think Faro is a bad influence on her. Your Athena is beautiful. Hoping you have many fun filled loving days with her. Thank you! It amazes me. She always sits still or stops moving when I'm pointing my camera/phone at her. It's like she knows. Every day since I got her has been fun! @DebraDownSouth: What a cutie! In a couple, it shows the white of one eye and I was going to ask if she has a "lazy eye", but then I looked back at the baby ones… nope, just your camera angle and her looking at you a bit from side. Cara has an absolute lazy eye, btw.. so you know why I was looking! I envy you that cute baby stage. OMG wouldn't it be wonderful if you could keep them like that. Give that wrinkly face a kiss for me. Sigh. Thank you! At times it does look like she has a slight lazy eye but mostly it's the camera angle and the way her head is. Don't worry, I give her many hugs & kisses everyday! this is my favorite picture I've taken thus far. [image: IMG00470-20110329-2131.jpg]

Thank you, all, for the compliments! Ty's registered name is Apex Tyvola. He just turned 3 and is recently retired from the show ring. Zeenie is between 11 & 13 and is a BRAT dog originally found in Illinois: I've had her 9 years now and she is an angel (w/ horns, occasionally:rolleyes:)
