Bored Yet?? More Maya & Family!! (Lots)

  • You all bored yet? :p

These were taken last night. Maya and family had helped me dig the hole for the pond (finally done!!!) and then i thought i'd take some pics while they were playing. Maya does nothing to support the whole stereotype of basenjis being beautiful, elegant things… She's a little rough hellraiser :D

Anyway, these are some pics of Maya and her family. Hope you enjoy!

    Cassia:

Cassia, Delilah the Pug and Riley in the Background:

Jumping over Rileys bum. Dont think he was overly impressed!

Maya and Lilah on a mission!

    Beautiful Maya

    Attacking Riley again:

And just some cute ones of Maya and Lilah in their bed:

Well done if you got to the end!!!

  • Lovely pics:D I love the one of Maya playing with the cat toy, so typical basenji:D

  • Cassia and Riley are really beautiful dogs! Of course.. Maya is a very pretty girl as well!! She only needs to grow into her ears :D :D Love it! :D

  • Great photos! Basenjis are elegant…sometimes, and clowns..often!

  • Beautiful pictures but then…you have beautiful subjects. Your dogs are all great. I have the hardest time looking at pugs without thinking of the movie "Men in Black".

  • Maya is beautiful… and seems to get along so well with Lilah. I love the picture of Lila with her tongue out, it's adorable. But poor Riley... seems to get picked on so much, LOL!!!;)

  • Great photos! Thanks for sharing them!

  • What a great blended family of dogs you have.
Thanks so much for sharing these photos.

  • Thanks for the replies everyone!! :D And the lovely comments :o

Riley is definately the bottom of the pecking order, bless him! The biggest though, he weighs over 6stone so could easily sort the naughty girls out :D But they all get on really well :)

  • Maya is such a cutie - and so happy to have a pack to play with. Keep the pics coming.

Lovely pictures - Maya is obviously glad to have Deedee back. You're not the only ones with deep snow, Scott, here we're snowed in yet again! (we're not a million miles away from Jess either) All the Basenjis (including Jewel(16+) are enjoying it but not so sure about us - clambering up and down hills searching for missing sheep is not much fun!!! Our BC (Fern) our sort of sheep dog is more interested in playing chase and catch the snowflakes so we're on our own!!!

@Kipawa: Jess, I don't think Maya has a problem with weight, either light or too heavy. She looks very good. As long as you know she is eating wel, is healthy and is exercising, don't be too concerned. I realize their IS a standard for the basenji, but they are living beings that can't always match up to a picture in a book. She is a very, very good eater. She LOVES her food and its often more of a problem to keep her weight down as she will steal anything she can get hold of  Since having a basenji I have learned that they are worse thievess even than labradors!! I was defrosting a chicken last week and noticed it had disappeared from the kitchen worktop.. where do i find it? Outside with Maya and she'd eaten about half of it  She is a pig!! I walk her for about 2 hours a day now, most of which is offlead running (we walk to the horses fields and back each evening so she spends a good hour running around the fields and woods and farmland!) so she has quite a lot of exercise compared to some im sure, but if she didnt have that she would be a little porker cos she eats a lot :p But at the same time, cos she has so much time running around burning calories I do need to make sure her food intake is high enough. She is definately the highest energy dog i've ever had

@Patty: I especially love the pictures with Poppy - Maya looks as though she is trying to let her know who is boss! Oh, no not at all! :D She was trying to get her to play, but everytime Maya bopped her on the head Poppy screamed at her and Maya ran away  She is probably one of the least "bossy" of my dogs but is definately the most playful and thinks that everyone wants to play with her, which in this case they didnt.. Poor Poppy!

@renaultf1: And basenjis aren't?:D:D:D Wait 'til you get a second basenji and Maya has a partner in crime… :D:D:D I cant wait to have another basenji :D I guess it wont be til Maya (hopefully!) has babies so it'll be a bit of a wait yet, but i can just imagine two little horrors ruling the house
