Maya's First Ringcraft - Video

  • Thought i'd share this. It was Maya's first ever ringcraft class last night! It had been cancelled the last couple of weeks due to Crufts and the Gold Cup, so she's a bit of a late starter  She's never been around so many noisy dogs and people!!! It was also the first time she'd had her posh new chain on (all the way from Westminster show!!!) so all in all, i am very proud of how well she behaved!

I cant upload to Youtube from work as its blocked, so hopefully this will work:

P.S. i know how rough i look, no need to tell me! lol LOOOONNNGGGGG day….

  • You are so lucky to have these training classes, nothing here in France!

  • @seko:

    Yes none in Germany either:(
I use to run dog socialisation classes for people with dogs that use live on the base so I used these as my training class for Belle, it was better than nothing.

  • No ringcraft classes at all?? Thats awful!

We are very lucky, we have about 5 seperate classes we could go to within 15mins drive, so we just pick our favourite. This one is very good as theres a variety of dogs, the "judge" is very, very experienced and bad tempered dogs are not tolerated so its puppy-safe :D

  • I recognise the trainer but don't know where from:confused:

No they don't do ringcraft at all, people have to use the shows as training for their dogs. I remember at my very 1st show in Germany watching an open class (not Basenjis) and thinking does nobody train their dogs and was then told about their being no training classes. These dogs were leaping about and going round the ring on 2 legs for most of the time, wouldn't allow their mouths to be looked at, I couldn't believe:eek:

  • Thats a backwards way of doing things though isn't it…?? You kinda need the dogs trained BEFORE you show them lol What a nightmare. Wouldnt wanna try showing a pug with no training at all...

Our trainer is a toy judge. She judges all over the world so you may well have seen her in Germany at a show lol she shows and breeds poms, but not so much anymore! She always dresses rather ummm.... "loudly"! And has lots of dangly, jingly jewellery. Which is actually great for the pups as if they can have her going over them with all her bling, a judge in a real show is nothing!! :D lol

Possibly or just maybe seen or heard her around the shows here.

  • Wow, it looks like Maya is doing great! Thanks for sharing, hope you guys have a lot of success together. :)

Dang, so nice to have that many classes so close! I think I have about 3-4 I could go to within about 35 minutes to over an hour maybe? And I live near the most populated area of the state. Unfortunately I'm in a Southern suburb, and there doesn't seem to be much dog stuff in this area. Everything is either W/NW of here or in the Northern suburbs. :( Pretty much any decent training clubs/classes are all like 45 minutes away or more. The club I belong to was actually closer when I lived out in the country. Go figure. lol

  • She looks to be showing off beautifully!!!:D

  • Thanks for the replies everyone! :D

  • I thought you and Maya did quite well for the first class! She looked pretty calm on the table too. My first class didn't go nearly as well. lol. What were you baiting with? I haven't found something yet I that I can hold Zoni's attention for that long.

    Cheers!

  • Awww, thank you :D

I was using liver cake as bait. She is very, very food orientated (a bit too much maybe!!) so i have no problems there!

  • Thanks, I had to google "liver cake", didn't know what it was. I'll have to give it a try. Anything to keep her from wiggling around everywhere. :D

@Basenjimamma: she is sooo cute..I am glad all things have worked out for her and that she has the best mum in the whole wide world :) She is one lucky pup, noone expected her to still be with us so she's very special! And Maya is just the best mum, endlessly tolerant of Evie's pulling, chewing, biting and playing  @Shaye's: Evie is a doll! I'll bet the big outside world is just wonderful for her - love the field of passing dandeliions. It was a bit overwhelming this time I think, but i bet she'll be loving it in no time :D @vickilb: The clover are almost as tall as her!!!! So glad her Mum is ever-vigilant and won't allow any harm to come to her! She really seems to be raising her right!!!:):) Well… Maya did let herself down when she spotted her great dane and pointer friends at the other end of the field :o Galloped off to play with them and left Evie with me! But, the rest of the time she was vigilant as ever :D @Patty: Lovely pictures. Evie is a little love. She is obviously going to be one bold, brave Chi. Maya is raising her right!! She is certainly looking to be very outgoing at the moment :D I hate those nervous, yappy chi's!

What a spectacular area to let dogs run free! I am envious! It looks like they all had a great time running and being with each other.

she was 5 months April 7 - she is still not 'grande' size yet - but getting closer by the minute. The size range is 22-28 inches and she's about 20.
