  • @snorky998:

Her unique physical appearance only makes her more endearing/lovable. Corgi like, almost.

    Love those ears!!!!

Snorky I just tried to look for your Corgi and I didn't find his post:( could you help me to find it?

Your sentense is so true , more she is unique more she is lovable!
The difference is a big part of me too.:)

  • Thank you for taking such good care of this pup.

  • I think Snorky was talking about the breed of dog Corgi… here is a link (but with a smooth coat)

  • She is an adorable little girl, her eyes are so bright and she looks very friendly!:)

Thank you very much I already saw a corgi on a tv show, it 's a very amazing dog.

I hope my husband will soon take a picture of Daysie' s mother, maybe the father too, He told me the mother has short legs , it was the very first time he saw that kind here, I am in hurry to see if parents have some caracteristiques of Basenji I think so my puppy have some, isn't she?

Thank you Bellabasenji, yes she is very friendly because we took her to early and I was sorry for her, so I gave her a lot of affection for few days and she became a pot of glu , it's better now ,but she always loves huggs and kisses, but when she plays she is like a battery, she plays a lot with her dog sister but also with my children , and when I sweep the floor, it's very hard for me :D
She is so quickly the first day we saw her playing, we said she plays like a cat , the way she moves, jump to catch her toys, lay on the floor, run to escape and hide, she is very funny.

  • @sharronhurlbut:

Thank you for taking such good care of this pup.

It is such a pleasure for me to give a good life for animals who might not have one.
Thanks a lot to share my pleasure.

  • I just love those big ears - I can see why she is the "love of your life"

  • What a lovely sweet girl..

She smiles really sweet at the pics… I love her ears too..

  • Daysie is Beautiful and all EARS!! What a cutie… I wonder what she is mixed with??

  • Awwww I love her!! Thank you for rescuing her.

  • She's a cute baby. I would love to see photos of her sire and dam if you can get some. :)

I think that both of them are mixed. I should fill a questionnary to see how many carasteritics she has?

    promise I will do.

I just have to make my husband ok to make some as soon as he will go there, he should go next week if he get time.

Yesterday, I saw 2 wonderfull Basenjis , they were a bit far and I m not sure the tail was ok.

There are a lot, in the streets some are very thin, a lot are mixed, they are all owned by somebody but they don't feed them, or just a bit of something people eat every day and red oil no meat.

I show you pictures of puppys I took last year, I edit, it's not my puppy, I just saw them iin a village where I stayed for holidays, I just make some pictures. My english isn't good enough.

    is he a basenji?
this is the main color we find here.
I will try to picture those I saw yesterday.

  • Wow! What an adorable pup! Very, very cute puppy- keep the pictures coming!

I edit my post it's not the puppy I took but only the picture sorry, mine is on the avatard.

  • Hearing about all the strays makes me sad. Especially because I picture my Shelby out on the streets and it would be heartbreaking.
You're a good person to take your pup in and get him well.
And, your English is not bad. I understand you.

  • Thank you Shelby,
you know people live also in the streets, they have a room to sleep, but they stays as long as they can out, children also sometimes naked ans dogs too, you can read the link I put on "book" maybe you 'll understand that its not a kind of maltraitance, the main maltraitance I see it's not to feed them.
    Africa is an other world.

His face doesn't look very Basenji to me.

  • I agree, doesn't look like a Basenji… just nice village dogs

@Buddys: Actually, my first B was found running around and was not altered. Always a possibility since the canine need of procreation is pretty darn high up there with food, water, and air…... Oh I'm sure it does happen and will continue to happen but I just don't see it happening as much as rescues claim it happens. I know for a fact some shelters (the one I worked at did!) will label dogs as rarer breeds to get them adopted faster. We had two scruffy "doodle" mix mutts and the animal warden INSISTED they were Wired haired pointing griffons. LOL.

Wow! That is certainly a fascinating mix! ;-) Two sighthounds and a Spitz in there, so will probably see much the same sorts of behaviour as Bs….I bet she's quite a runner too! Good look with your girl!

Oh yeah, he looks way more like a b-mix to me than a lot of the pups listed as basenjis on Petfinder. And they mention he's not a barker. What a cutie! Someone go get this guy! :D

Look at the BRAT mixes: http://basenjirescue.org/DOGS-MIXES/Default.htm Check out Tia. I think that's what you are looking for. :) Then look at Tyson and Shiloh. Not the right coloring, but similar build and coat….

Rafismom, we started him out in a crate, but he hated it. Cried something fierce. We then started leaving him in my son's room, and he was absolutely fine….well, until he started crying again. Then we gave him roam of the house while we were gone, and have had no problems at all. Yes, I know. I'm lucky! He absolutely hates for us to leave, but he's good while we are gone. No complaints here, for sure. Maybe it's the possible black lab that mixed in that makes him so calm? He has his moments, especially outside when he sees a squirrel, etc., but overall he's a very calm pooch. Just last week, I was walking the dog at a local park when I hear a woman saying something about the dog. She was a good distance away. I then realize she was talking to me and asked if my dog was friendly. I said, "yes" and she came over to pet him. She told me that the dog reminded her of her first dog. She said her first dog was a basenji. After more chatting, she said that it was actually a basenji mix, but that my dog looked a lot like hers. She told me how much she loved that dog and told me all sorts of stories about her. Such a nice lady. Gave me a few bits of advice and about a half hour later we parted ways. This is my first dog, and I've been amazed at how friendly other dog people are when I'm walking him. This has been a great experience.
