Two adult females available

Basenji Rescue

  • Panda is an Australian import from Tamsala Basenjis. She is related to the sire of my first litter and the great granddam of my current litter.

Here is a link to Tamsala's website, http://www.tamsalabasenjis.com/

  • Wow, what beautiful babies. I agree with agile, you should just add two more, I am sure it wouldn't matter ;)

Double your pleasure, triple your fun!

  • I have not met Panda - I have met Whisper and she's a sweety (oh wait maybe I did meet her at a show)

  • I know it's a roadtrip but are you going to take Luny down to see them and see how he gets along with each of them?

  • They are both beautiful!(Whisper is my fav :)) I hope one of them will make a nice fit!

  • Actually I've got a companion for Luny from Sally Wuornos (at least on a trial basis). I was seriously considering one of Tad's (Whisper) but hesitated since he is so far away and I wasn't sure about how they'd get along without an introduction. So when Sally said she had a young girl I jumped at the chance. I just wanted to alert others that Tad had these two girls available.

Well.. then Tad can send Whisper to me :D

Cool. Is this the young red/white girl that didn't like showing? Sally mentioned her to me one time but I was looking to show so she wouldn't have been a good match for me. I think she said she liked running alot so she might like coursing like Luny. I hope she works out for you!

  • Yes - the same. She and Luny get along fairly well (they've had their tiffs already) and I've noticed she does like chasing. I'll look into lure coursing for both of them later this year after the weather warms up.

  • Congrats, hope she works out well for you. I would love a second B, but my cats would NOT!!!

LOL… no surprise there (having tiffs...).... other then that, has having her around helped with Luny?

Again, hope that you have contacted BRAT to take them for placement….. It would be great if you have had them tested for Fanconi with the DNA test.. that would help in getting them placed faster...

@AJs: I guess bird seed and fruit aren't Melody's cup of tea.:D But she keeps Gramma company when she's feeding her birds. That's helpful, isn't it? She sounds so darling. Kudos to you for your rescue efforts! I agree, there doesn't need to be any official structure or heirarchy to make a different for THAT dog! I've privately adopted out two dogs from bad situations. Got them neutered and found wonderful families for them who continue to adore them.

Hi jagm - Are you really sure you want puppies? Have you ever bred a litter before? It is truly more work than I would have ever thought, especially if you are doing all of the right things, as listed above by tanza & lvoss. Are you prepared to keep 6 or so puppies forever? I used to think to neuter & spay was cruel as well, but realistically, that's only a selfish notion. Good luck in finding your boy a companion! I found one for my girl & that's the best thing I could have done for her, other than having her spayed.

Most of the BRAT folks I know, spend $$ to help dogs that they are moving to other homes. They pay for gas, postage, food, collars, crates…really, almost anything you can think of to get the dogs into shape to go to the new homes with all the "things" that they need. I am afraid I will not be able to give these things to fosters, as I have in the past, due to the paycuts we are all taking. BUT most of us are working for the dogs. We are lucky to have a great support group to help us.
