  • When you order Prime Rib, if you order it well done you ruined it, any other way your eating raw meat!!!

Is it truly raw or cooked in various degrees and therefor still pink? Meat can look pink yet be fully cooked, like smoked meats or slowcooked at low temps..

  • My girlfriend, when asked once at a restaurant how she liked her steak replied: Wipe it's butt and send it on over to the table.

Lol, my father's line was always, "I just don't want to hear it moo".

  • ROFLMAO, That is wonderful! I think I'll call and tell her. :) Much more acceptable in public!

  • Yeah its pretty much raw, as well as carpaccio and tons of other plates. And nobody gets anything!! you can get more from lettuce, so even less dangerous for dogs.. At least that's how I se it..

My daughter said, when she was two mind you, I want my steak bloody..and I want steamed broccoli with that..the poor waitress just about keeled over..

Dmey, you are right..you can eat raw meat or near raw meat and fish and catch nothing..but catch everything and anything from just lettuce, so sad. I think the reason you hear more about the veggies/fruit scares because it affects more people..meaning more people eat lettuce, tomatoes and other veggies in their daily diet (even if it is only on their burgers..) than they do the prime ribs, the carpaccio etc..and I also think it makes for better news…healthy veggies make you sick..raw meats is more acceptable to make you sick (to the public)..also, most of those things I would not consume unless at a top notch restaurant or prepared at home....although now I won't at all since I am a RAW vegan..hehe..but I do still like meat, it just doesn't like me :(

  • Ohh I agree definitely, I wouldn't eat it anywhere. Especially here now with colera lurking around!!!! I have a friend who is vegan.. I love vegetables, seriously, I love all vegetables but I don't think I could stop eating meat. And you know what is funny, is that with all this talk of meat, I realised that I have actually not eaten meat in at least a month!! Well other themn ham in a sandwich, but no meat or chicken.. I have been eating too much pasta!!

  • I started to mix raw into the kibbles the day I got him. And he eats only raw now, and wubs it.

  • Only been feeding dry food for the last years, but moved to Sweden yesterday and this morning Voodoo caught and ate 2 lemmings, so guess we can start feeding raw again. :)

I would say it is better to consult and get the proper guidance from a Vetenary doctor about the diet of the puppy with regular intervals, otherwise the diseases may evolve during certain intervals and that may lead to the death of your puppy. lewis diet book"

What food are you feeding? The quality, calories, fat content etc is critical. 4 cups of cheap food may have less calories than 1/2 cup of quality. I feed puppies 3x a day til they are 6 mos old, particularly smaller breeds. Until they hit about 20 pounds, it is harder for them to regulate blood sugar levels with 2x a day feeding. I know many who do feed only twice, but I just like to know they can utilize the food and can maintain stable blood levels. I won't bore you with research, but a good article in general: http://www.vetmed.vt.edu/vth/sa/clin/cp_handouts/Nutrition_Growing_Puppy.pdf All that said, if your pup is neither fat or thin, is healthy, then you are probably fine. If you see problems, evaluate. But you can never go wrong with top quality food. As for puppy or adult food… I switch at 6 mos over to adult. Many stay on puppy food til a year.

Thanks for all of the great ideas. I will go to the limited time for feeding and may start to mix in a little wet good as well. I have begun some train with her but was told I have to wait for all of her shots to take her to obedience classes. She has her third set this monday and then the last ones in three weeks. I have almost got her to sit, she does it if she knows I have a treat but struggles if I just come out of the blue and tell her to sit. We're working on it.

This sounds like resource guarding. The eating fast is a sign of it, then when your husband grabbed Mick it just confirmed to him that someone was out to get his resources (the food). The link that Pat provided has a good discussion. I would really recommend getting the DVD The Language of Dogs, http://www.dogwise.com/ItemDetails.cfm?ID=DTB875P, it sounds like Mick gave a lot of signals that he was going to bite before the bite actually happened. Learning to read those signals will really help to prevent situations where Mick feels the need to escalate to biting. Some things you can do to prevent this situation in the future. If you are worried he is eating to fast, one recommendation I saw for slowing the pace a dog eats at is to put a tennis ball in their dish so they have to keep moving the ball out of the way to get to the food. You probably should also feed in the crate, so that he is less worried that any people around may take his food. You are going to need to work on the resource guarding, a good source of information is the book Mine, http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=DTB740

My teething toys of choice? My leather belt (he loves because it is long and moves around) and the bleached cylindrical bones that have peanut butter inside for licking. That settles down his teething urges a bit. A little spray of the water will stop any unruley behavior pronto! He was chewing my floor mat in the kitchen.
