A question from a husband to Basenji lovers

Off Topic

  • What do you do when you give your wife everything and she still loves the dog more than you??????????????????
    Sincerely, a lonesome husband

  • Yodel?? My DH knows the dogs come first with me and has been very accomodating. He has his space and I have mine. Although we do the odd thing together. We definitely have separate lives. We co-ordinate our time together.

  • I was going to suggest getting a second b for her. But for the fleeting moment that she first gets the new puppy (and loves you more than the original dog because of the puppy gift), unfortunately it would shortly be followed by her loving 1) original dog, 2) new dog, 3) husband…in that order. So that won't work.

I have another suggestion though...do what the bs do...shred some toilet paper, tear a blanket, eat a shoe, make a mess...at least you'll get her attention. ;)

    Hahaha.. this is soooooo funny..!
BF always says to me that he has to fight Tillo for the first place on my 'who-I-love-most' list :D :D
I always say that I have two lists.. one for humans, one for animals.. So they are both number one :D

  • It's simple really…
Spoil and cuddle the B, until you become number one on it's list.

...oh wait... then your wife would be jealous and mad at you... and may want another B to replace the one you stole...

  • I think Renaulft1 had the right idea – run through the house trailing TP :D :D

Hey, that is how it works in our house….:D

  • Give up… Take your place in the pack! mwhahahah!! :D:p

I LOVE the above quote, but from my personal experience…. flowers (from the yard or the local florist), cook a dinner (doesn't matter what it is), a hand picked glass of wine or specialty coffee....

Next, initiate the whoopie (Ohhhh so sorry, forgot the prep work....play with the dogs, feed the dogs, walk the dogs, pick up the poop, crate the dogs)

Put on the 'Barry White' and enjoy..until...(in a crate)the howling and screams start....or....(loose), the clawing at the bedroom door sands layer by layer off the 100 year old Oak door.

DON'T LET THEM IN!!! NOT NOW, NOT EVER !!!! That's where the whole problem starts.

  • I am just loving these responses from my husband's post!!!:D:D ROFL at the thought of him running through the house with the TP! I guess I should maybe pay a little bit more attention to him.;) That wine and Barry White music could maybe convince me to notice him more…:o

@CrazyBasenjiMom I live in the very Southern tip of Indiana & we get some pretty cold winters & there's a lot of humidity so it's a real "biting" cold & if the winds blowing ~ it feels like razor blades are in it!! If no one else wants the sweaters, I'd be glad to have them for my next b that I'm waiting on getting!! But if someone else lives in a colder area & wants them, they can get them! If no one else wants them, I'll be happy to have them. Before my Mother passed last yr., she'd knit up one for everyday of the week & one to wear on wash-day!! :)

Sorry, but I'd most likeley go for a beagle, that was my very first dog and he was awesome!! Got him off the street…my first 'rescue'...after that, crap, can I say this...a cat.....OUCH!!!...Yeah, I was very lucky with both my B pets, but as I get older, I'm not sure I would be able to handle a young B. However, as I look forward to retiring I'm more than happy to have multiple B's in my home. :) Older ones, like me :)

MacPack: Yes, I know bestiality isn't illegal here - how stupid, and they did mention that on the radio. Also, the whole gang probably would platonically marry Topper, he is such a dear. My Shaye would REALLY like to marry Topper.

I take Blaze into the senior's lodge to go visit Grandma (in a town of less than 300), sure enough, there's a gentleman there that knew what Blaze was. He was an archeologist back in his day. His last dig was in 1976 deep in the Congo, and he stayed with villagers and witnessed the hunts and the lives of the basenjis in the village. He told me about one hunt. The basenjis chase antelope into huge nets that are strung up in the forest like barriers. The nets are handmade with ropes and vines. Some of the hunters stay near the net and hide, the majority of the hunters take the basenjis to the water hole and wait. When the antelope arrived, they release the basenjis and chase behind almost soundlessly. You can really hear the gourd bells, which are mostly around the loins. The antelope hit the net and are shot with arrows. The basenjis have to get beaten off… they get a little too excited. He has some amazing pictures. I'm trying to borrow his album to scan, but he's not comfortable with that idea. He loves Blaze though and he knows the african word for the breed which I can never remember or pronounce.

What an interesting group of pictures. I don't get a good feeling when looking at these pictures - I get a feeling that the animals look as if they are being exploited. The dog at the bottom right does looks a little like a basenji or pharoah hound or a mix of the two.
