A new past-time for Rocky: Chasing waves.

  • Recently, we took our two to the beach at Point No Point (it was sunny, but cold, hence the coats):

where Rocky discovered a new hobby - Chasing the crashing waves and nipping at the seafoam. I managed to get a video of it, and posted it here:

  • Oh, Steve you did find good coats for them..looks like a great day for all.

  • He realy loved running alonside the waves, didn't he. I love the sountrack of the ocean :)

  • Wow how fun!

LOL on the coats, I have those. Okay had. I put Sayblee and Arwen out in them one very cold day and they tore them up in less than half hour. One was beyond repair, the other in the closet. My Rotties and chow had never bothered theirs. Sigh.

He absolutely loves it. He runs up and down the edge of the water, more or less non-stop. If there's a large piece of driftwood running into the water, he's been known to hop onto that and nip at the foam as the waves crash.

Other people that have seen him have said that he has the energy of a puppy, and didn't believe he was 11 years old.

  • A lovely video - and goes to show what I always say (and many in this country disagree) that a Basenji is not a veteran at 7!!! Wonderful that Rocky is 11 years young.

  • What fun he had … but all the time my heart is in my mouth wondering if he comes back; scared to death he'll just keep running - the video ends with him gone ... OMG.

He always comes back - he knows I carry treats with me!

  • Great video!

Thank you Debra. Sayblee is a very good looking dog and I love the way adult Basenjis bodies fill out as adults. I like how the brown goes down her legs too giving the appearance of white socks. I will definitely keep your words in mind should I see any signs of aggression forming as he matures. I can only pray I luck out and he continues to get along well.

He can run off-leash allmost everywhere here. Most days I don't need his leash at all. Only have to watch for foxes. He really hates those and will go after them untill he gets them. Good thing is he has an excellent recall. And he is allways watching me, wont go further away from me then 50 meters. So walking him isn't a problem at all (as long as no foxes cross our path that is…).
