@aprilk yea definitely! Thanks for being welcoming to a non-,basenji super mix everyone!!
A tired basenji…

The only thing better than taking your basenji on a fun-filled 5 mile hike is the relaxation you get to experience for the next 12 hours while they sleep it off
I love a basenji puppy passed out in my lap. -
amen Andrew. amen

I'll second that…

My b/f and I are thinking of road tripping with our basenji from MA to MI for thanksgiving…. I think we are going to have to take him for a LONG walk before we jump in the car to get him all tired out. I also found that books on tape tend to put my B to sleep in the car (however, depending on the narrator it has a similar effect on me).

I took EL D camping this summer - not nearly as far away as MA/MI but several hours drive anyway. At first he was nutsy because he thought we were going to the park and when we passed the park he was nutsy because he thought we were going to my brother's place. Then he finally realized we were going someplace new and he simply curled up and went to sleep. Hope it works that way for you.

That is exactly how Zaire is in the car…she tries to guess where we are going and gets herself all keyed up....but once she realizes we are not going to any of the "Usual Haunts" she just curles up and passes out till we get where we are going.

We are doing a 10 hr drive to Id next week.
The b's sleep and only want out when we stop for gas.
I need to get out and walk the dogs because I get too stiff just sitting.
Ah, old age! -
We always start a long trip with about 15 minutes at our near-by dog-park, then get in the car and they settle right down. Mine can easily ride for 4-5 hours between 'pit stops', the humans and the car and the dogs all need to stop at the same time!
Have a great trip!

Ah, old age!LMAO sharon…..the older I get, the more I realize the B's can often tolerate the long hauls better than this menopausal mom.
