It's raining.. it's pouring.. my lovely morning.

  • my B is a big fat wimp!

woke up this morning to torrential rain. Tucker casually hauled his lazy toosh outa bed, hauled himself downstairs, and when I asked him to go out and do his business, well, that's when he nearly had a nervous breakdown…. backing away from the door... "no, no, no!!!!" I remind him that this is not optional, he has to be brave and go outside. so he goes, reluctantly. he then stands just outside the door. I gently scoot him down the 3 steps to the yard... where he stands looking at me w/ the most horrible look on his face! Fine. whatever. just go pee!!!

I leave to go check the baby (who's throwing breakfast around the kitchen) when i hear horrendous barking and crying. I swear, you'd of thought this dog was being burned alive by acid rain the way he was carrying on. Jeeez, it's a bit of rain... I let the Drama-king in, he shoots me a dirty look, shakes off a few rain drops, and heads back to bed, where he proceeds to lick his butt on my comforter. I swear, it was payback.

  • What a story!

Too funny - glad you shared your morning here. :D :D :D Senji's don't need words, do they!!

  • My feeling is that b's will only go in the rain, IF Your out there, holding an umbrella over the b…having the rain run down YOUR neck...oh, and its usually about 3am in the morning...
So, you finally get the b to pee or poo, you get in the house, try to drive off your pj's...
and find a wet basenji warming himself under your covers in your bed.
Yes, I am my dogs slave!
Oh, I live in the PNW...this happens often!
    SIGH!

  • well now Blaze is in trouble. I can no longer hold the umbrella over him as he goes potty… he ate it last week...

  • Indi will go, FAST but in the morning he then runs in, dives underneath the covers, and warms his feet on Turin, some days I am glad to be the first one up

  • Lol, they are major heat slugs when it cold/wet aren't they!?

Ladybasenji, where are you in Quebec? Montreal? We have a place in Gatineau (Aylmer sector) and one of my dogs might even be related to yours. You're experiences with your girl remind me so much of my first basenji, about 20 years ago–it gets easier, I swear! Let me know if you'd like help with Lady--they're nothing like labs and will never be "obedient" but there are tricks for training them : D

The bile in the morning wouldn't concern me unless it was alot and happened all the time, even with some late night feeding. The other symptoms are curious. If you original vet is not answering your concerns find another. Keep us posted.

My pup never bothered hers much and I didn't even use a spray deterent. (Of course she got used to wearing coats in the winter so maybe that helped.)

Jayden is super gross when it comes to what he'll eat: poop, vomit, and, if he pees on the patio, he'll lick that. Honest!!! We feed him and we feed him very well! Yucccchhhhh! Pat

There's no animal so resourceful as a hungry basenji. They were slighted you know for centuries being last in line at the cooking pot.
