Urgent: Maddie needs a Home or a Foster

  • This girl is scheduled for euthanasia 7/25

Maddie is an 8 month old, red & white female mix who was owner surrendered because she was "too wild" (typical). This is a very sweet little dog who gets along with dogs and cats, is housetrained and vaccinated; she hasn't made a sound since being at the shelter. The shelter worker really likes her but they are NOT a no kill shelter and will euthanise for space.

BRAT was contacted in the hope that we can assist in saving the following Basenji mix. Unfortunately BRAT does not have enough foster homes to take in the Basenji mixes but BRAT does not like having to turn away perfectly adoptable animals so I am posting this dog here in case any one of you can step up to the plate.

Contact the shelter, and Joanne Free, ASAP if interested in this dog. By adopting or fostering this girl you are truly saving her life. A reasonable distance transport could possibly be arranged if you are wanting to adopt or foster but are out of state. Let me know.

She is at the Johnson City Animal Shelter in Johnson City, TN.

  • Thank you so much for posting this.
One never knows when a face will touch someone and a new home will be found.

  • She is a cute dog, hopefully someone can help soon!

  • I was informed that Maddie is gone from the shelter, but the person who answered the phone didn't know what happened to her. Hannah (who is usually the person I spoke with) is off today. I am hoping that someone either adopted her or took her into rescue, I'm sure that's the case. Thank you all for offering to help, sadly, there'll be more.

ps I just learned that she was adopted!

  • That's wonderful!

    :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

  • Yes, we can't save them all, but the ones we can…well YEA!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm so glad; she has such a wistful quality about her in that pic

@Rocky1: Don't worry anyone,Dogs are coming home to me here at Jaroufa Hounds. Richard always knew that he could bring dogs back and his son finally found me. Anubis and Anuket will stay with me until a home is found or I will keep them . Kathryn Are they still available? How old are they? We presently have a 20 month old r/w well behaved basenji that we are thinking about getting a playmate for. Brindle is prefered but will consider another r/w or Tri from as young as a puppy to 2 years old male. Thank you Ruben
