My Basenji is One Rude Kitty Cat!

  • Ok…this was my stupid husband....he is basically a big kid and thinks its fun to make what he thinks are funny posts...he does the same thing to my friends on AIM (has made for some interesting conversation!)..sorry about this one, I tried deleting the post, but couldn't figure out how...lol! I guess thats what I get for not minimizing the screen before giving him the computer!

  • LOL…I just thought you had forgotten to post a picture to go with the caption. It never gets any easier trying to understand male humor. You just need to post a disclaimer that any wierd messages have probably been posted by your dh or the dog.

  • It is kind of funny though. Alot of people have compared Indi to a cross between a Kitty and a Human which I think is kind of accurate. What do you all think?

  • Jack is TOTALLY more cat than dog….yesterday he was "stalking" a squirrel in the yard, and he definitely looked like a cat.

Plus, I was telling my DH and a friend that people on here had posted pictures on here of their bs climbing trees, to which the friend responded, "What is he, some kind of mutant cat?"

  • After watching a show on cheetahs, I think that Basenjis are more like them than dogs, or wolves. They look to have the same light framed body structure, and like to stalk, and paw at things. Medjai also waits and tries to beat other dogs in a race at the dog park.

Ours were raise with three cats. Two who were hand fed (both rescues). They all "respect" each other. Our third cat is part Savannah according to the vet. The cat weighs over 25 lbs and is an accomplished hunter. The only issue those two had is when the BJ tried to take away a rat. The cat won that argument but did leave the tail for the dog. Those two wrestle. Other Bj owners have posted similar photos, the only difference is that with the Savannah mix, the dog and cat are closer in weight.

We have two cats and two Basenji?s, but the basenji?s grew up with the oldest cat. They live togehter as a family, but the first meeting between Buana (oldest Basenji) and Spaik (oldest cat) was heavy Spaik was so mad at us he went under the bed and didn't show himselfe, when Buana got to close he hit Buana. Cats usually need time to get used to them, for you I think you need to watch them the first weeks constantly. From their behavior you can see how it's goint between them

Both Abby and Cooper love my cat, love to chase him. He's pretty smart though he's know how to get away from them. We have our formal dining room blocked off with baby gates so he can go in there and eat and not be bothered by the dogs. Plus apparently Cooper looooooves cat food. Then again Cooper loves all food.

@jenniferever: ive had raleigh a little over a week, lol. i know – VERY SOON to be complaining about him & the cats. he's now used to them, and they're used to him. i unfortunately had to get rid of 1 cat because he was getting very aggressive with raleigh, but i was meaning to find that cat a new home before i got raleigh anyway. one thing that bugs me about raleigh is that he lunges at the cats. its kind of like an abrupt bow-- like BOOM! GOTCHA! and the cats of course hate it. squiggy does this. He is trying to play, which the cats go hide until he is out of that mode. He also "fleas" the cats. But the cats like it best when he just bathes them. At least my B does not have to worry about cat hair :) I have 2 sphynx:p Glad to hear your group is getting along.
