Because the current test is a marker test and not a direct gene test, I don't know how useful the test would be. This is a question you would have to ask directly to the researchers.

Definitely see a vet. I would think they will give you antibiotics, but they may have something else in store as well. That is a little disturbing for me to just play the wait and see for a couple days though.

I can't tell if that's a blister or a small scratch that has gotten irritated.
If it's just a scratch, I think I'd just put some ointment on it a few times a day
and try to keep him out of the serious dirt for a few days. -

Could well be that it was the hogweed as I have heard of it irritaing humans skin and causing blisters.
