Thanks for all your help! As I mentioned previously, it was the trainer that
said there may be some basenji in this dog. We had never heard of basenjis,
so it's been interesting to learn more about them, whether or not she has any in her. Thanks again for your input!

A few weeks ago, EL D tore up a stuffed toy I brought back from my trip to Poland – it had fallen off the shelf and I didn't notice. Of course I was P#$%&* at him because it was a special item, but then felt bad because you could see in his eyes that he didn't understand -- "it was on the floor and it looked just like my other toys".
Anyway, the other day I was sitting in my den with EL D on my lap and suddenly he gets this really strange look and stares at my desk -- on which was the remains of the torn up toy. He stared and stared and stared and stared. It was quite clear what was going on in his mind -- "that looks like the new toy I tore up, what is it doing there?"
Stupid dogs indeed - ha!
